Im researching my family history and I was wondering if anyone would have any research information on the Myracle/Maricle/Marcle ect. family that moved to your area in or around 1840. The family of Peter, Laurence, William Myracle ect. My Great grandfather was Elias Myracle born around 1855. He married a indian woman named Becky Garner and they moved to Tennessee in the late 1870's. I'm not sure of who the parents of Elias are but in 1860 tishomingo he was listed in the household of Mary Myracle, Amanda, Elisabeth and Eurilde... This family is listed as being next door neighbors of the Peter and Susan Myracle family, so I have been wondering if they lived with them, but it was a mistake on the census, I think maybe Elias could be a child of William P. the son of Peter. I have researched this family extensively but I cant make a direct connection. The only other census I have for Elias is in 1880 when they moved to Weakley TN.... I call him Elias because that is what his name is listed as on both census, but death records for his children name him as William, and Bud.. I know Bud was a nickname he went by. He died sometime between 1890 and 1900. If anyone has any info on him, his family, or the Garner family that was originaly from Alabama but moved to MS in the 1870s, please contact me. I will be keeping a check on this forum and my email is bekah _hunter @ yahoo. com Thanks to everyone!

Hello Bekah,
I am a Miracle/Myracle/Maricle/Maracl e family researcher. I am currently wrestling with the Lorance Myracle (TN) and Peter Maricle (TN/MS) families. There are many unknowns with the Peter family caused by the 1840, 1850, and 1860 Tippah/Tishomingo Co MS Census records. However, my current belief is that Mary Maricle was the daughter of Peter Maricle, born in Perry Co TN during 1822/1823. She is listed in the 1850 Tippah Co MS Census (the year after Peter died) in the household of William P, his wife to be Martha, his mother Susan, and several other family members. In the 1860 Tishomingo Co MS Census, Mary Myracle and 4 children (Amanda 11, Elizabeth 9, Elias 7, and Eurilda 5) are living next to William P Myracle, and four houses away from Michael Myracle. So almost surely, Mary, William P, and Michael are siblings. My guess is that Amanda in the 1860 Census is Emily in the 1850 Census. The question is - who is the father of these four children? If they belong to William P and Martha, then Amanda (Emily) was born before they were married in Dec 1851. And where was Martin A in 1850?. This were where I stand until I find more data. Doug
