does anybody know about the gardner covert memorial farm on 17 highway? its about 2 miles down the highway and sits to the left. It has an arch over the driveway and is a very large house. Any info would be awesome
Its a nuthouse. I know a lady who used to live there until her crazy ass escaped. She hated it there.

I got permission from the Mayberry's a few years ago to take pictures of the outside of the Bates-Geer house. They asked that I not go inside as the interior is no longer stable. It makes me sad that the old house is falling apart. In an old article in the Houston Herald Rose Geer, the last occupant, said there was a bloodstain on a mantle, but that she didn't know anything about how it got there. I was in the house once around 1980 and we were able to walk upstairs. It was just and old, abandoned house, but we did hear a strange noise and high tailed it out of there. There used to be an old, wooden zig zag fence along the gravel road they say was made by slaves. My dad said he thought that old building standing on the property might be the old Paddy Creek School, not sure. My Granny told me once that she remembers when the old slave shacks used to be there. Sure wish someone would come along and rebuild the place.

There has not been anyone that has lived in it for sometime. there is a new owner to it, I believe they are going to remodle.. I will have to ask on that note.. I would hate to see it torn down...

I saw a ghost or spirit one time at Conroe High School on the morning of 1991 when I was a student there. It was around 5:20 am in the boy restroom in front of auditorium. It was shaking the door and the metal trash can that was holding the door opened. It stop when I turned around and I saw a pinkish mist like object floating away. There was a girl that got raped and was strangle to death there in 1981.

I wonder if I might be related to the original owners of this house. Recently found out have distant relatives in cool Salem and Springfield rolla area. Could it be we aren't the first to be in Houston?

The Mayberrys won't let you go in. It's a safety hazard but might let you walk around outside IF you ask. They are nice people if you are respectful.

I have started compiling info and pics on the old Bates Greer house. It's getting in bad shape and I hate to see it go downhill. Makes me sad. I grew up in that area and want to preserve the memory of it. So interesting.

Kelcie, I don't think they would let you go inside. The floors have started collapsing and are in bad shape. The Mayberry's gave us permission to walk around outside and take pics, but asked that we not go inside. Be sure to ask them before going. They live just past the house and are nice people when others are respectful and considerate.

My grandma, grandpa, dad and all his 13 brothers and sisters lived in the paddycreek house when they young. My dad told me stories that him and my uncle kevin and calvin slept in the upstairs bedroom, he would say that late at night whenever everyone was asleep, him and my uncles would hear footsteps going up and down the stairs constintaly, but when they would open the door there would be noone in sight! they said they would also leave a full glass of water on the kitchen table at night, and by morning the glass would be empty every time..no one in the house touched the glass EVER except to fill it with water and sit it on the table. One night my uncle kevin was sitting by the fire place thats in the house rocking in a rocking chair..something had litteraly lifted him up in mid air and threw him in the fire place...everyone around him was anywhere from five to ten feet away from him he still has the scars to this day. you can belive me or not this ALL really happened!!!!! my grandpa was walking up on the porch one day along time ago and he happened to fall through the front steps of the house underneath all the rubble he found a shot gun!!! i forgot how far it dated back too but i thought that was really cool. One day when i was a little girl my aunt mae my dads sister was showing us pictures of the paddy creek house that she was taking one day, well on this one picture she took in the upstairs on the far right side a black figure of a person showed up no distinct features it just looked like a really huge shadow outline of a burly man!!!! My dad told me that even with the fire place going the inside of the house was so cold it felt like it was snowing or freezing over inside the house!! You can belive this or not but this really happened to my family and this is just some of the few things that have happend!! one more thing i will share with you is that the old man the owner of the house would go inside and padlock all the doors shut, by morning they would all be opened and all the locks would be unlocked..the wife of the old man was talking to me and my dad one day when we asked if we could go inside the house she was telling us a story about how alot of the nights she would look outside her new house and walking across the field of her farm would be a white horse with a man in a uniform riding it then it would just dissappear..i will leave this for you to read and make your own judgements on but i do know one thing and the paddycreek house is a VERY HAUNTED PLACE!!! I wish ghost adventures would come do an evp (electronic voice phenomenon) and set up digital recorders to see what they could catch because i have the most confidence they very much so could!!!!
