looney toons paranoid crp from the gun nut lobby

The Latest From the NRA’s Top Lobbyist Wayne LaPierre.

1. Violent Latino Gangs Are Out To Get You:“Latin American drug gangs have invaded every city of significant size in the United States. Phoenix is already one of the kidnapping capitals of the world, and though the states on the U.S./Mexico border may be the first places in the nation to suffer from cartel violence, by no means are they the last.”

2. And They’re Streaming Over The Border:“The president flagrantly defies the 2006 federal law ordering the construction of a secure border fence along the entire Mexican border. So the border today remains porous not only to people seeking jobs in the U.S., but to criminals whose jobs are murder, rape, robbery and kidnapping.”

3. And So Is Al-Qaeda:“Ominously, the border also remains open to agents of al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations. Numerous intelligence sources have confirmed that foreign terrorists have identified the southern U.S. border as their path of entry into the country.”

4. And Obama Will Use Them As An Excuse To Take Your Guns:“A heinous act of mass murder—either by terrorists or by some psychotic who should have been locked up long ago—will be the pretext to unleash a tsunami of gun control.”

5. If You Want Gun Safety, You Want Civilization To Collapse:“After Hurricane Sandy, we saw the hellish world that the gun prohibitionists see as their utopia. Looters ran wild in south Brooklyn. There was no food, water or electricity. And if you wanted to walk several miles to get supplies, you better get back before dark, or you might not get home at all.”

6. Thanks To Obama, There Will Soon Be No Cops:“Meanwhile, President Obama is leading this country to financial ruin, borrowing over a trillion dollars a year for phony “stimulus” spending and other payoffs for his political cronies. Nobody knows if or when the fiscal collapse will come, but if the country is broke, there likely won’t be enough money to pay for police protection. And the American people know it.”

7. But The NRA Is Totally Not Paranoid:“Hurricanes. Tornadoes. Riots. Terrorists. Gangs. Lone criminals. These are perils we are sure to face—not just maybe. It’s not paranoia to buy a gun. It’s survival. It’s responsible behavior, and it’s time we encourage law-abiding Americans to do just that.”

8. It’s Just That The Collapse Of Civilization Is Right Around The Corner:“We, the American people, clearly see the daunting forces we will undoubtedly face: terrorists, crime, drug gangs, the possibility of Euro-style debt riots, civil unrest or natural disaster.”

9. And We Shall Overcome:“We [the NRA] are the largest civil rights organization in the world.”

The NRA is using a front group to spend millions of dollars across the country to elect both prosecutors and judges.

The National Rifle Association has funneled millions of dollars to a front group that spends its money electing judges and state attorneys general who are tough on crime—unless those crimes involve violations of gun violence prevention laws. The Law Enforcement Alliance of America was founded with funding from the NRA in 1991, while Congress was debating the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act. Police associations such as the International Association of Chiefs of Police had come out strongly in favor of the Brady Act, and relations with the NRA were strained after the NRA opposed a 1986 bill to ban “cop killer” bullets that can pierce body armor. So the NRA founded the Law Enforcement Alliance of America and claimed that it represented the “average cop”—who supposedly opposed gun violence prevention laws.

More people purchase and own firearms than ever in the history of America. There is absolutely NO movement to ban guns, and, in fact some gun laws have been reversed--by the Obama administration, no less!

This hysteria from nutjobs is based on nothing whatsoever but their paranoia--so easily played upon.

Are you kidding? Most people in the US can barely read and write English, much less Latin.

Some scholars have said that it is wrong to read a right of armed insurrection in the Second Amendment because clearly the founding fathers sought to place trust in the power of the ordered liberty of democratic government versus the anarchy of insurrectionists.[53][54] Other scholars, such as Glenn Reynolds, contend that the framers did believe in an individual right to armed insurrection. The latter scholars cite examples, such as the Declaration of Independence (describing in 1776 "the Right of the People to...institute new Government") and the New Hampshire Constitution (stating in 1784 that "nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind").[55]

There was an ongoing debate in the 1780s about "the people" fighting governmental tyranny (as described by Anti-Federalists); or the risk of mob rule of "the people" (as described by the Federalists) related to the ongoing revolution in France.[56] A widespread fear, during the debates on the ratification of the Constitution, was the possibility of a military takeover of the states by the federal government, which could happen if the Congress passed laws prohibiting states from arming citizens,[57] or prohibiting citizens from arming themselves.[41] Though it has been argued that the states lost the power to arm their citizens when the power to arm the militia was transferred from the states to the federal government by Article 1, Section 8 of the US Constitution, the individual right to arm was retained and strengthened by the Militia Acts of 1792 and the similar act of 1795.[58][59]

What's really funny is the fallacy in the thinking that armed resistance against a government takeover would somehow be effective. Seriously? The gun toters' ARs would be like toys against the weapons available to a government military.

It's laughable and merely a fantasy of the gun kneejerkers.

Excellent post. Given the way a government can go (look at countries around us) there is nothing we can do if they usurp their power. Now isn't that interesting that an armed population was a speed bump for the Japanese in their strategies re: any invasion of the US during WWII. But then you obviously think that history won't repeat itself. The "It can't happen here".

I guess the logic is: if you can't beat them submit. Join them? Become a cop or join the military? Because we can't we shouldn't? Their guns are bigger therefore we shouldn't have anything? Now drones for civilian security. They will protect us.

Amen to that. The "Dorner Episode" should provide all the facts necessary to believe what you say. The sheer magnitude of trained manpower brought to bear, not to mention the hardware. These 2nd amendment people live in a fantasy world that rivals any virtual computer game ever made. But, these nut jobs can't seem to grasp reality. The NRA knows this and knows how to capitalize on it. All to the benefit of the gun industry. We are indeed a nation filled with fools.

.
Well the comparison to dorner is effective when 200 law enforcement goes after 1 armed man. such manpower, such firepower. Now extrapolate that to a few hundred or thousand armed citizens in a concentrated area. How many LEO at 200 to 1 ratio can be allocated, how fast, how effectively ?

Excellent post. Nothing like polarization. You win.
Seems that it more an irrational fear of yours than of anyone else. Or wishful thinking? Playground rules? Mine is bigger than yours? I am on the side of right?

You make it too easy. As if everyone is against the government and not just wanting to protect themselves. Self-defense? Home invasion? No, I guess that doesn't suit your reductio ad absurdum. You do well with the fringe.

Well it does highlight the absurdity of thinking that armed citizens would be effectual against a mightily armed government with access to weapons you probably can't imagine.

I'm sure I'll need yo spell out the significance:

You 2nd Amendment extremists like to argue that citizens must have the option of being armed to protect themselves from government domination. Yet, most people don't even know how to use their guns (as if they would have an impact anyway). The USA is a "well armed militia" fully capable of protecting its own--much more so than Johnny Rambo with his/her little pop guns.

Of course, the survivalist/doomsday mentality among a SMALL number of you NRA controlled kneejerkers fantasizes about the day when they will need to barracade themselves and fend off.........whatever (depending on which movie they've watched).

Such ignorance.

You're missing it. It is a statistical FACT that self protection with a gun is highly ineffective and often ends in tragedy for the good guy.
