Congratulations for admitting you were wrong, an action that is all too rare. Your stature has gone up with me.

The schools should be able to use tazers on the bad ones.

Back in the 60s and 70s when I was a kid, school officials regularly beat kids. It didn't help then, it won't help now. School officials who want to return to beating kids don't have a single functional brain among the whole lot of them and the public that support them believe that since Jews beat their children in the Old Testament, that we need to beat our children now.

Where are the references to questionable use of punishment within schools in New Mexico that would make this a worthwhile issue?? Of all the things to discuss (state's budget, anyone?), why is this getting so much attention?

I do agree that anyone has the right to touch my kid, but focusing on the here-and-now, why is this important? What a waste?

Can the schools offer parenting course to some Las Cruces parents who are greatly in need of such programs.
When our parents and children know better, they do better!
Our schools are there to educate not police or parent children who have not been parented correctly. How about a wonderful course on Positive Parenting.
I am truly dismayed by the times I have seen parents jerk their school aged, little ones by the arm in public. Or the times, school age children just lose it in public because their parents have just tuned them out.
Parents and schools invest a little in our children, and get alot in return.
Honestly I dont know why parenting course are not offered by hospitals or some other social agency via referral by OBS specialists, why wait till the kids are school age!
Makes sense don't you agree?
Come on Las Cruces, we can do better!!!!

There is a bigger issue here. Doesn't matter if you are pro or con paddling. Why is Cynthia proposing legislation that has no impact on her district, yet restricts action in the rest of the state. Was she not elected to represent her local district??

In 7th grade my pe teacher swatted my bare ass with a wooden paddle, for smoking cigarettes,I now search the internet looking for old silver haired daddies to give me over the knee bare assed spankings, while I lay there and chain smoke.

Tazers....cool party favors! They can make a paraplegic break dance. Sheen is and always was an azz hole and D gave him the boot he deserved. If he came to Cruces, he would probably be loved.
The point is you do not reward a kid for poor behavior, you punish them. Got it?

Don't you people realize that the reason the morality of our country is deteriorating is because there is no CONSEQUENCE for bad behavior? Has that thought ever crossed your feeble minds? The reason that these gangbangers run around unchecked terrorizing our city, that our youths are involved in sex, drugs, and violence- are all because there was no CONSEQUENCE for their bad descisions. Have you ever stopped to think that maybe the reason that our country was so much better off in the 40's and 50's is that people had been brought up with discipline-and yes, corpral punishment was a big part of it. They didn't get paddled- they got their ass handed to them. "Oh goodness- we cant spank little Johnny or little Alice- it will turn them into violent people as adults....." LOOK AROUND PEOPLE- LOOK AT THE VIOLENCE THAT PLAGUES OUR CITY!!!
I blame the demise that our country is going to face in the near future on YOU and your ignorant mentalities.
