This just shows the hypocrisy of those in the Democratic Party. Many Democrats have little caring for minorities and their problems. They often use the plight of minorities for personal politcal gain! The press will play along and not allow this to become an issue. But God forbid if this were a Republican Candidate! I can't understand why minorities have become so beholden to the Democratic Party!

True Conservatism believes in the power of the individual. People of all races and religions should instinctivly embrace individual rights and not group rights. I say the Republican Party needs to embrace individuals within minority groups based on conservative principles and these members of the minority can free themselves from the Breasts of Big Government and hand out programs as doled out by the Maternalistic members of the Democratic Party! We are all equal in the eyes of God!

Buckwheat was a young black boy on the little rascals show. This was an older black woman that was called buckwheat.

Buckwheat is also the name of a famous Zydeco mucician or band from somewhere in Louisiana.

The NAACP needs to start doing something for colored people and stop attacking white people for being racists and bigots.

This story makes very little sense and I seriously doubt if it is completely true or accurate. Was alcohol involved?
Was the black lady trying to ask for some money or something for delivering votes?

The AP is failing the newsreading community.

This brief article is more evidence in case anybody needs more evidence.

Well this southern lady was obviously an idiot for doing this. It was in poor taste to say that... and may cost her her political career.

But, c'mon, blacks need to stop complaining about every little thing.

One time I (a white man) was walking down a sidewalk that had mostly all black people on it. I was wearing jeans, blazer, dress shirt. One black guy thought it would be funny to point at me and say "Look, it's Bill Gates!"

I thought it was somewhat funny, but it certainly did have some racial stereotypes behind it I think. But what could I do? Anything I say back would probably be considered racist...

There seems to be a double standard.

Having been raised in the North, and having lived in both the North and the South ... Quite honestly, I prefer the South .... they are friendly, respectful, and just plain nicer people.... and race doesn't matter to them anymore

Buckwheat... hmm.. why don't people like that just admit that they are racist? You people put up so many excuses for why they do it and what the name really means...if that is the case and it is harmless why not just admiit that one is a racist?

Hey genius, remember one thing: democrats were in charge of the state and local government in Lousiana, and they sat on their hands while people died.

This Buckwheat comment cost Carla Dartez the election. She was defeated in the runoff election.
Her seat was considered safe for the democrats. The NAACP leader got the black voters to vote her out for insulting his mother.
His mother said that she considered Buckwheat just the same as being called the Nword.

Moral of this story --- be nice and polite to the people that can control large numbers of votes if you want to win the elections.

This story was suppressed in Louisiana newspapers and I think there was a brief paragraph about it on page 7 of the New Orleans paper. But I got this info from an online blog.
