Empty shopping center in middle of Village. Balboa Club restaurant closed permanently for years. West end pool permanently closed. Cranfords east end closed; no replacement coming. Promised Mc Donalds did not appear. Necessary fee increase tied up in court. Z I l l ow rates the HSV housing market as COLD. The list goes on and on. What''s your opinion????

You are correct. The village has ruined the village, if you catch my drift. The POA tells us the monthly dues was raised from voting but yet, no prove of the voting results. They hire a company to take care of the voting process and tells us it would be costly to prove the results. The voting flyers promised us the raise of the dues would be for improvements and increase the value of our properties. Not to much has gone on besides them hiring other companies to be responsible for their work. Something is wrong with this picture and residents let them get by with it.

I forgot to mention the following bleak aspects of HSV:$1,000,000+ spent to remodel the De Soto Club, but the adjacent pro shop and (nice) bar and snack shop to be demolished; restaurant vendors at golf courses turning over every few years; golf course fairways and sand traps constantly wet; certain areas of the West end turning into hillbilly ghettos; Lake Balboa turning green with slime due to neglect and/or proactive maintenance. At last count there were over 300+
single-family homes (about 1 in 10) for sale in a very cold resale market.

Does anyone know what the heck they add to our water that is staining sinks, toilets, tubs and showers a pink color?

If the village keeps deteriorating from neglect there will be good residents relocating. People are definitely noticing and talking.

A live and well in Dunedin, Florida. I moved to the Village in 2003. But I can honestly say that from the time Cooper left things went downhill. I felt that I'd better leave before the resale home market
went down any further. Happy to be gone.

I will be selling my place in the near future and relocating, too. I'm glad you got out of this poorly managed "Private Gated Community".

eww wee at least you are OK and moved on. Wish I were in your shoes. This place is getting worse as time goes on. Now we only have one gas station inside the village. A police training center was more important. The POA must think everyone enjoys driving on the other side of village or out the gates to purchase gas.

Whatever happened to the proposed Mc Donalds outside the west gate? I heard they had sewer issues. Any news???

ANOTHER new manager in HSV? Seems like they are great at hiring people, but poor at attracting new residents!!!!

Some of you people astound me at times. There is a gas station just outside the East Gate, so you don't have to drive to the West Gate. Businesses stay if people actually frequent them, and Cranford East stated that the amount spent on average by those who came into the store was about $10, and they needed to have about $25 per customer to remain viable. The reason a lot of people quit looking at the Village was all the negative stuff by the complainers, the lawsuits, etc. No place is perfect, but if you had done your homework ahead of time, you would have known about the issues here... when Cooper left (he was the one with the deep pockets) he left quite a financial burden on those who lived here. Cooper created a "myth utopia" where everything was cheap, but he had no intentions of staying here (Cherokee Village, Belle Vista, etc history). Everything was thrown back on the laps of those here, and gone were all the inexpensive benefits...$3 for a round of golf,$13 POA dues, etc because Cooper kept everything artificially low to attract buyers. Rather than complain, why don't you negatives actually do something, like volunteer for committees to improve areas, actually do something positive rather than complain constantly. My thought is that you people were complainers where you lived before you moved here, and you never got out of the rut. Follow the others who left, we who love living here are much better off not having you here.

First of all HSV Resident doesn't always mean RENTER.

Second, I think you need to get back with us after you lived here longer than three WHOLE years. Pull your head out of the POA's butt and get with reality.

Third, you jump to conclusions and don't have any straight answers for people complaining,(typical POA attitude). We (property owners) know the village is a beautiful place but writing of how much you love the village doesn't solve anything.

Fourth, the complainers didn't prevent people from moving here. People most likely viewed of how village is ran and the appearance. You would know this, if you drove around and actually take a good look. Also, residents are unhappy and that led to lawsuits.

Fifth, stop putting the blame on "Coopers artificial low cost fees". The POA raised fees and dues years ago.

Last, is the Village new slogan going to be "We who love living here are much better off not having you here."

You truly don't care with that comment and attitude. What a perfect comment for potential buyers to read !!!

I never said this, so where did you come up with this.

I've been a property owner for 20 years, and I've been involved with issues since this. You seem to have a real problem with someone being pro POA... which by the way, are people who live here and work to make it better.

Third, you jump to conclusions and don't have any straight answers for people complaining,(typical POA attitude). We (property owners) know the village is a beautiful place but writing of how much you love the village doesn't solve anything.
Why are you so angry? Complaining doesn't solve anything, but getting involved does. You sound like a complainer who is never happy. You probably have been a complainer every place you have lived.

Fourth, the complainers didn't prevent people from moving here. People most likely viewed of how village is ran and the appearance. You would know this, if you drove around and actually take a good look. Also, residents are unhappy and that led to lawsuits.
You are wrong, when people read all these complaints about minor stuff and see the rancor in which you complainers mouth the same stuff over and over, that is a deterrent. I drive around daily and yes, I do see where the fallen trees need to be cleaned up, and I do see areas that have been used as litter grounds... but overall this is a beautiful place, we just need those who live here to work together to make this run better. And no, the reason the lawsuit was filed was because those people didn't get their way...the majority voted for it, and the losers didn't like the result.

Fifth, stop putting the blame on "Coopers artificial low cost fees". The POA raised fees and dues years ago.
The POA had to raise the fees because they no longer had Cooper to pay for everything... you obviously have no clue what it takes to run a community when the people who live there have to pay for what use to be a gift from the developer.

Last, is the Village new slogan going to be "We who love living here are much better off not having you here."
The slogan should be... we love living here, in spite of those who are constantly complaining, but if you are so unhappy and complain constantly, then why don't you go live elsewhere where you might be happier... but I doubt that you will move and I doubt that you will ever be happy, no matter where you live.

You truly don't care with that comment and attitude. What a perfect comment for potential buyers to read !!!
Oh I really do care about the Village, and I do care about those who work to make this a better place to live, and that is the message for potential buyers... come be a part of those of us who want to make things better, but beware, we do have old grouches who either can't or won't do any more than just complain.

We are happy for you and wish you well. Those of us who live here are working to make it better, and it appears you did your part to help with that effort.

Gas station just outside the East Gate, which is much closer than the Shell on the west side, and also closer than the old gas station where the Police now have a training center. It is your choice where you drive to buy gas, but apparently not enough of you purchased gas at that location, otherwise they would still be in business. It is also your choice in where you live, go join the others in Florida and make both of us happier.... LOL

FOOL .. that depends where you are located in the village. Use some common sense before assuming everyone is located near the east gate.

Bless your little pea-picking brain, notice I said it is your choice where you get your gas. I mentioned the west gate as well, and not all of us live over there, or live in the center of the Village either. You are the type of person who wants to find fault with everything, and I really do feel sorry for you...

Only in the Village would there be cause to celebrate that a McDonald's MAY be opening at the West gate. Yippie!!! Let me know when the DeSoto Pool opens again. Or, when the Balboa Club (upper) restaurant reopens. Or, an East gate grocery. Or, a restaurant in Coronado Center. Or, when there is real security at the West gate enterance. Or, when the real crimes are reported in the Voice. Or, when existing home prices get back to 2006!
