Age 80, she shoots a mountain lion to protect her dog, on her own property! More power to her! What a lady! I'm impressed.

It's unfortunate she had to shoot the lion. But sometimes it can't be helped.

We have pushed these wonderful creatures out of their habait, killed or driven away all their food sources.. and we wonder why they wander looking for food.. the animal was hungry and looking for food.. sad but this is our fault..

Greg and Aiuppa, are you saying it is ok to place one animals existence or worthiness over another? Just because you deem the cat to be more nobile than the dog it should be dinner? We need to teach these cats and dogs that eating meat is wrong. Ther is a much healthier lifestyle available for all living beings and it is the vegan diet.

Julie is partly right about this being our fault. This cat didn't learn that man is the ultimate predator, and needs to be feared rather than a source of food. The best way to make sure that we (humans and animals) can continue to co-exist is to activly manage their population.

What the hell is granny doing so close to the wild at 80, with no one? Looks like she knows how to scare eveyone, including the Lion - stiff enough to get two shots?

I'd say granny needs to move and stop picking on the critters. Send her to Iraq where she could scare the enemy into submission.
