we recently visited crown lake at the boxhound marina, and had to pay to be able to swim at the beach... actually, you had to pay for everything.. even air to blowup your swim toys..
are they not required then, to have a lifeguard on duty?
thanks in advance for comments..

We like Crown Lake. Have a pontoon at the marina. We find it to be clean with a nice sandy beach and swim area. As far as being charged a dollar to use it. Do you think it is free to clean up after everyone? Where else can you get a whole day of enertainment for a buck?

they own the few lots the marina sits on so they can charge however much they feel like. mrid is not part of it. for putting up with half the trash that go there, i would charge more than a dollar. its not fun to pick up dirty diapers, beer cans, and all other sorts of shit.

i think its funny that people go to muy buddies marina and complains about the dollar it costs to get on the beach, but yet they still pay it, i think there is something to that. like 2.50 for a gallon of gas...i bitch about it but i still pay for it..if you dont like the prices then open your own buisness and charge as you please, but you will find out there are only few things you can really charge a bit over and get away with it...that is sales...get over it!!!!

Its called private property!! You don't want to pay go with the rest of the trash to Pioneer Lake. Not much sand, pretty nasty, and no air!

If I was to guess, this would be one of the workers(or owner)...Gee, I wonder why you express yourself as if you were somehow personally attacked by these comments? I have some of my best photographs(wildlife)at Pioneer. I think it is a beautiful, serene, and otherwise a peaceful place to go! Are you calling me trash? You should exercize a little patience.

I find the marina to be well maintained, and it always looks clean. More then you can say for anything the MRID has control over

As a matter of fact it is. Someone brought up MRID properties, and that is what I based my statement on.

Billy, are you delusional? the forum is "Crown Lake", and to catch you up to speed, somebody asked why it cost suzie $1 to blow up her floaty-toys. So, as a matter of fact, it ISN'T! I forgive you this time...only because I agree with you on the Box Hound thing! God bless.

It IS private property, to answer the original question...I would venture to say insurance for a business as such could tax the company...Labor is probably another end that needs meeting! They probably can't afford a lifeguard to be on stand-by for 5 months of the year, and (knowing these folks)they'd probably put THEMSELVES in harms way for a stranger. Nice people, but a dollar to inflate each toy seems steep, and may send the wrong message. They're not greedy people, but one of the last few free things in life(air), they somehow figured how to harness it, and sell it! The price, not so smart...

If you don't want to pay for the compressed air, spend your own money to buy a portable pump that plugs into the cigarette lighter in you vehicle. At the $30-$50 that will cost you, you will probably find that paying $1.00 for the air when you need it is a pretty good buy. You could also buy a hand pump form much less and get in some good exercise inflating your child's toys. If you don't like paying the fees or the attitude of the owners, go someplace else.
IT IS THEIR PROPERTY TO DO WITH AS THEY PLEASE!

Sounds to me like these ppl have, are wanting more "hope&change"do you ppl think their air compressor was free and how many of you can air up your own tubes or does someone need to help you,and do you think the person helping you are working for free,or is someone paying him.

Pioneer lake has nothing to do with this topic. It is not known for its public facilities. Its more for fishing and it is beautiful. I've never went to a marina or public swimming site that did not charge for services. It is a boon to our community and it is maintained very well.

I find all employees at the Marina to be very rude, and unwelcoming. Plus when you walk inside, it's so hard to breathe due to the cigarette smoke from all employees smoking. The boat launch is terrible and could use some work. Paying five dollars to launch a boat is ridiculous, and fix the potholes at the entrance. They need to consider spending some of that money they make to upgrade everything. This area needs to be under the supervision of the Coor of Engineers, and it would be better maintained. The lake itself is great!!
