An "ethics" committee, which includes a doctor, is trying to terminate someone's life. A County Attorney supports the decision. This is the sickest behavior I have heard of. As American Citizens, we should be outraged that people we place trust in would be capable of such behavior. I believe that both the doctor and the attorney should lose thier licenses.

As a personal friend of the Harveys, I know that the reasons the county gave for getting Sara out of the picture are not true. I have never known a more devoted wife than Sara is to Gary. Sara ruffled some feathers in the early days when she made some complaints about the quality of Gary's care. I worked with her at the time and she would tell me about finding Gary in soiled gown & bedding from either feces, urine or food when she went to visit him. She also told me about the defective trach and cutting a piece of fish line so that they would have to fix the defect. I think it is a shame that the county is stopping Sara from taking Gary home where he could spend his final days in the loving care of his wife.

As amazing as this story sounds, it mirrors my own. My heart is with Sara and Harvey. Everyone with eyes to read this should know it can happen to them under our current broken family judiciary system. Do what you can to help. DO IT NOW!

So, let me get this straight. The GUARDIAN... the one who is to GUARD, to PROTECT, to look out for Gary's BEST INTEREST.. tried to starve him to death, to dehydrate Gary, to kill him!! Is that not murder to take one's life?? Now.. this Guardian is the County?? Why in God's name would this be permitted? What do you suppose this County is trying to hide?
One more thing.. a Catholic Hospital, a Priest, an Ethics Committee.. and they think all is OK???
My Bible says that life is God's decision. Has this Catholic Hospital & Company replaced our Lord and Savior??
I certainly hope they ALL get on there knees and BEG His forgiveness because, "Vengenance is Mine says the Lord." On Judgement Day we will ALL be accountable for our actions!

Clearly Sara Harvey loves her husband and needs the closure of being allowed the chance to care for him at home. She has the necessary equiptment and has gone through the training that such an endevor would require.
I know that if there were any problems that she couldn't handle, Sara would put Gary's needs above all else and would seek immediate medical attention for him.
He is and has been the center of her life and to deny her the basic right to touch and comfort her own husband is unspeakable.
To quote the Bible, "What God hath joined together, let man not put asunder."

Shame on Chemung County and any member of their supposed "ethics" committee. The fact that this vet, who fought for this country, cannot be with his wife is atrocious.

I think the people that make up this "ethics committe" need to put themselves in the shoes of the family members and then realize how their decisions affect others. After all, ethics are not necessarily written rules or laws. They are simply what is right and wrong. If you are not capable of seeing that it is obviously wrong to keep Gary from Sara's care, then you have no place serving on an ethics committee and making decisions that have such an impact on others. Send Gary home!!

I have known Gary and Sara Harvey for 14 years. I am no longer living in NY but I am appalled that the courts can treat people the way they are treating Gary and Sara on this issue. They say they fear that Sara may harm him. What can she do that they have not already ordered done. Sara wants nothing more than to have her husband, her companion home where he belongs. I would think that the state would be happy to comply with Sara's wishes and make room for someone that needs the state to care for them.

Where are the veterans ?? Where are the outraged politicians ?? Where is the judge to let Sara take her husband home ??

What has happened to this so called free countr? It doesn't even make sense to me to vote anymore. i am actually afraid that there will be revolution in this country and it will be worse than any war we hav ever seen. How can decent humans, so few there are get through all of the evil! I had one son die, quite young and the other abducted by my ex who is most likely a golf buddy of the judge. My sons are both special needs. Chris is now 31, have not seen him in two years after raising him. Bless us all for the fight. JW

Some day you will all have to answer before God for the treatment of this man, and those who love and really care (have true concern ) for him. I pray this man get's to return home to his loving wife. I too have a special needs son whom was taken from me after over 26 years. You people calling the shots don't understand what you are doing to others or just don't care. Let it happen to a love one of yours and maybe you will know what sleepless nights are like. Laws need to change.

Amen, amen. Most Catholic Hospitals are no longer "Catholic" sorry to say. They like to wear the fig leaf of Catholicsm while abandoning the teachings of the Church. Same thing has happened to most "Catholic" Universities...such as Notre Dame. It is a shame. Please do not judge the Church by such renegade intitutions.
May God Bless this family.
