I was thinking the same thing. They've had a bunch of murders, assaults, and burglaries over the past few months.

There must be a law passed for All Legal Citizens in N.C. to carry concealed weapons.

How many crooks would would break in to any home KNOWING the HOME OWNER was armed?

The Board of Realtors must have forgotten to send the ACT the memo to not run local crime stories during prime season for selling real estate.

I'm sure they'll correct the oversite this week.

Uhm, correct me if I am wrong, but, I don't think you have to have a concealed weapons permit to own a gun in your own home.

If the Board of Realtors had control of this paper, there would be NO negative real estate articles at all, idiot.

TO ALL SENIOR CITIZENS....

You are not required by and state or federal laws to have a firearms license to own a firearm.

You ARE required by NC law to have a Concealed Carry License if you CARRY a weapon upon your person while in NC.

It is your Constitutional right (duty) to own and possess a firearm to defend your home from a home invasion.

The BEST way to your stop a home invasion is with a firearm. Anyone who says there is a better way to defend your life or your home is full of (it).

'Authorities' show up at your home (after this type of assault) and take you to the emergency room or the morgue.....clean up the mess and make a written report about what happened.

Government (Law enforcement) is not required to protect you and your property from a home invasion or attack. YOU are responsible for protectin your life and property. If you don't believe this statement.....try suing the government for their failur to protect your home.

How much common sense does it take to figure out the solution to this problem??

When a sorry home invader begins breaking the windows and/or the doors of of your home, put his life into the 'next life'. You won't go to jail or to prison. It is your right to protect your home with deadly force.

If you choose not to protect yourself with a firearm, should you encounter a home invasion, your name will appear in the AC-T as a invasion victim.

I'm trying to figure out why they published the couples' names. Thought they avoided that.

this scum needs to be caught and executed.... again ..arm yourselves people, learn how to and be willing to shoot to kill, the cops can't help you and the courts won't...a half dozen or so dead perps with their brains and guts on the floor will deter the scum and save lives.

It a shame that one can't sit on his front porch and feel safe these days. Our legislators may look into the crime problem as soon as they deal with cigarette smokers, and bottled water issues.

Thanks Stuart..your posting is correct.

Many people do not understand that it is not the lawful responsibility of the State to protect us from a home invasion......and......we will not be prosecuted for protecting/defending our family with deadly force.

News outlets, including this newspaper, will not encourage the use of a firearm, even when a life is in grave danger.

Brave Americans, like you, who understand it is our duty to protect our family, should explain in simple terms how easy it is to purchase the best home protection available....a firearm.

And, encourage the use of a firearm when your life is threatened with bodily harm.

I guess I missed something here. What does this have to do with real estate? Or is it that they want people to think nothing bad happens here. A lot happens that we don't even hear about, I am sure.

A concealed weapon permit would have no bearing on this situation for a couple reasons.(1) It was in their home, where a concealed weapon permit isn't really needed.(2) From the details given in the article, it sounds like an unconcealed weapon would not have helped in this case. The intruder was left alone with the wife of the home, and assaulted her. Then, after re-entry, the husband was assaulted. How would have a weapon helped... who knows?

In either case, it seems common sense wasn't followed by allowing a stranger into your home, and then compounded by leaving said stranger alone with your wife. In the end, though, the priority is that neither was harmed (at least physically), so we thanks some lucky stars for that.
