Ky is among them. What is the comments from the "good" people of H.C.? Is it a good thing or a divide then conquer tactic. Isn't that what the Civil war was really about. I myself am undecided as I don't know enough about the advantages and disadvantages. Post your opinion for or against.

Well, as I said in my first post I don't know how it would work. I do know federal and state taxes are taken from my check. May I also say my federal taxes are 4x's the state taxes. If all that federal money (and other Ky workers) went only to Ky wouldn't we be better off? Granted, we couldn't ask FEMA for help if needed in disasters, but from what I've seem the Red cross does a better job than FEMA anyway. As far as schools are concerned we could say what our children are taught and not the federal government. Government wouldn't be cut off just a little more controllable.

Ok. So lets say succession is granted. The union pulls out all army, navy, air force, marines, national guard, coast guard and empties and destroys all munitions and munitions factories. Then halts all U.S. imports of all goods to those states. Hey, you ain't with us then you're against us. How are they gonna make a stand. You're free range now. You'll be speaking japanease or russian or german or something inside of two years or less. Succession would cost your state way too much capital and more than likely bankrupt your state. No country is likely to stand by and wait for you to build your independence or your economy.
Then theres this. Even though succession will never happen any governer or senator who supports this idea has totally wiped out any possible chance of becomming president of the U.S.A. Do they think they'll be voted into office by a country they did'nt want to belong to before they chose to run for presidential office?
But then again what do I know? I'm just a dumb hillbilly lives up in the rocks. Don't even get daylight here 'till 10:00 a.m..

I thought the Federal government was here to protect the states from foreign invasions and a mighty fine job they've been doing I might add. As far as learning to speak different languages it's already important to learn Mexican.(from said invasions we are supposed to be protected from.)States would send their trade to another state instead of out of country. As I said earlier the federal taxes would stay in the state. The Federal government is guided by the lobbiest and who puts up the most money. Doesn't really matter anyway looks like we're all going down the toilet.

The Texas petition assails the federal government's "neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending,"

I'm having a hard time with this statement. Seeing as to how the U.S.G. Has given Texas 16.805 billion dollars since February 2009 from the Recovery Fund Act. I would think a state, any state could live for 4 years on that amount of capital.

Yeah. Down the toilet and pickin' up speed.

When a state secedes from the U.S. they no longer have any money.
E. pluribus unim. That money is property of the U.S.G. inwitch a seceded state is no longer a member of. All currency troughout the world has to be backed up by gold for it be valid and accepted for trade. So unless a seceded state has a hell of a big gold reserve hidden off in the corner some place any currency of their own they would want to produce is useless paper except inside of its own borders.witch will only go so far..

My friends, you don't understand. States have already seceded. Look at the map. The socialist states of America and the United States of America. The argument is complete!
