Its a nice town just has problems like anywhere else. For whoever said they dont recommend it then maybe you shouldnt be here i love this town i was born and raised here and maybe instead of not recommending it you should shut up and try to make a diffrence and help cjange the parts you wouldnt recommend.

Grew up in DeSoto and went to Sunrise and then went to desto high. The elem school has gotten 10000 times better when I went in the 90s. Alot of good teachers have left, but I am sure there are better ones there now. when i went in highschool it as alright. some teachers were quite helpful while others didnt give a crap about you if you werent something special to begin with. either way someone will complain about desoto and evey other town you ask about. just go check them out and see what you think.

I'm a 3rd generation DeSoto citizen. I would highly recommend DeSoto as a town to live in and raise kids. Everyone takes care of everyone!

Your kids must not be at the high school yet! That's really my only complaint about this town..

I would recommend sending your child to St.Pius for high school if you can afford to. I moved out of Desoto because my children didn't need to be bullied by some of the staff at Desoto. The staff has a click among its self. Mostly made of the life long hometown staff members. You will always be an outsider.

don't do it, if you have any good luck in life desoto will ruin it! Meth heads, wanna be rock stars, and so called jeffco thugs. Biggest mistake of your life. PS i forgot the "nightwalkers" but stay away from them the are more than likely 15 or younger.

i've lived here since 1994 and its not a bad place to live but the part about "everyone takes care of everyone" is only if ur not an outsider. if ur an outsider you take care of yourself. schools don't know much bout sunrise but as far as highschool if you don't play sports or you haven't lived here all your life you get treated like crap. sorry thats just my opinion

Better off moving just over the county line into St Francois county or Washington county. Schools are about the same, don't have to deal with corrupt county officials, corrupt city council, corrupt rural fire dept., corrupt ambulance district, horrible, corrupt school district, etc.

DeSoto is a great community. You have to take the good with the bad. It is small and quaint but being small keep in mind everybody knows everybody. As for Sunrise, it is a wonderful and small unique school. It is very hard to find a school with such a small teacher-student ratio and Sunrise offers that. The staff is very dedicated to the children. They might not offer tons of extra curricular activities but our community picks up there plentiful.

I love DeSoto!! It's deff. got it's down falls, but it's an overall great little town. Gotta love the red neck country boys and the mud trucks. Only complaint is the asshole cops that charge people with bogus DWI, and assault charges!! Just don't have an argument with your wife in public!!! Some loser driving by may call the cops and say u are brutally beating her.
Yet the "concerned citizen" didn't care enough to stop and asses the situation before making a report, and causing a family to lose there home due to the pile of legal bills!! Straight up beat the DWI, but didn't have enough money to tell them to shove their plea bargain up their back side.
Thank you lard ass DPD!!

I was raised here. I went to school here. Like any other place, there are good things and not so good things. I spent 51 years "out in the world," including living in foreign countries. And where did I retire to? De Soto. If you like small town life, country setting, and things of that sort, it's for you. If you'd rather be in the middle of some major goings on, then find yourself a big city. I won't leave again.
