MARTHA STEADMAN IS HER NAME AND SHE LIVES IN THE AREA, LISTED IN THE BOOK UNDER EDWARD STEADMAN, I THINK. SOMETIMES YOU CAN FIND HER AT THE MAPLES CHECKING ON THE PROGRESS.

You need to go to Unseen paranormal Research And Investigations and see our photos. I will stop and ask the owner next time I pass through. House Springs has many spirits well documented. I would love to investigate more in this town. One of our spirit photos was featured on George Noory. "Ghost Dress". It's on the site as well. There is a old pioneers cemetery that needs rebuilt. Figures I'd find it and find human bones out on new sod! Thank you for the information.

THE SITE ITSELF HAS LOTS OF HISTORY. THE MAPLES WAS THE OLDEST SINGLE RAN BUSINESS IN HOUSE UNTIL THEY WERE FORCED CLOSED BY JC BUILDING DEPARTMENT.

We would all love for ghosts to be people who we know and love. Many times they aren't. We haven't found one location that is was the person they thought it was, but we have to see what happens. House Springs is quite active for sure but so is the rest of Jefferson County.

I used to go to Maples occasionally for dinner, in 1979 and 1980. We sat in the restaurant and the owners' large hound dog would walk around while we ate. The food was pretty good, but the health department would now frown on the dog in the restaurant. Also, the dog used to sit on the hood of a car parked beside the Maples. There was an old movie screen built alongside or behind the building. It was like a billboard painted white, where they used to show movies a long time ago, perhaps in the 1950's or 1960's. I knew Ed and Martha, who were good people.

I remember back in the 1970's, they had Burgers,Fries, & IBC Root Beer, besides Beer.Boy,was it great ! They ought to display some of the old photos, enlarge them, and hang 'em up in the remodeled place.

Back in the late 1950's when I was a kid, I remember my parents would drive our family there when they showed movies out back. But my favorite place back then was the House Springs Park & Pool.
Largest public swimming pool I've ever seen. The pool had high and low diving boards and a high slide. Also a hugh covered pavilion next to it that sold food & drinks. There was a juke box, numerous pin ball machines, large picnic grounds and creek with many a tadpoles and a few fish. On some weekend nights during the late 1960's there were live rock bands and dancing. A local band called The Extremes was my favorite during that time.
