Like I said before. They don't need lockdown demonstrations and meth house drills in the schools. They need to get back to the basics and teach them to the students as well as the Constituiton of this country.
It is obvious from those scores that the kids aren't learning anything. What a disgrace the govt. run schools are. The parents need to take an active roll in their childrens education. It is almost too late.

You folks have been sold a bad bill of goods with this testing scheme. This testing scheme was cooked up by the Bushites with only one thing on their meager minds - to destroy public education. Now you ask, why would they want to destroy public education? So they can justify the funding of their private religious schools. That's it in a nutshell.

The test scores are not valid nor reliable and do not really test the educational programs of these schools.

Of course not…………….They don’t want you to see how dumbed down the schools have become………….All the teachers do is teach the children how to pass the test……….

It would be real simple to come up with a random no announced testing procedure……………….A teacher would be told one morning to go to a web site and low and behold there would be one and only one test……………The teacher would download and print it and give it to the children………….When done the teacher would scan all of the test and upload them………..

The teacher would not know………….

When the students would be tested.
On what subjects the students would be tested.
And the test would never be repeated………

But that would give you an accurate pulse on what the students are learning and that would give heart attacks to parents…………

I would say that government education has been doing what it LBJ intended it to do since the 60's... create a dumb populace that is easier for big government to manage.

Unacceptable. I don't care about the comparative school excuse. I want to know how our schools are doing compared to all other schools in the state.

Read the Press Democrat article which was written by someone with an above 8th grade education and you'll get the real picture.

Here's the sad reality: Calpella, a 1 on a scale of 10, Hopland, Nokomis, Oak Manor, all 1's. Grace Hudson and Redwood Valley-2 (bottom 20% of the state). Eagle peak and Pomolita-3. UHS and Yokayo 5 (average).

Only 1 school has better results than the year before Nash took over. 2 have actually regressed.

However, I don't hold Nash responsible. Break the teachers' union. It is out of control. When the spokesperson whines to the press that teachers are not being consulted about how Redevelopment funds are spent instead of begging our forgiveness for our kid's shoddy education, shame!

I checked the California schools I went to and the lowest score was a 7. This says more about the people here than anything else. The highest here is a 5.

I'm just sad I can't afford private school for my kids.

I don't blame Lois, nor the teachers, nor even the schools- I blame it on the breeding stock here in Mendocino County. Face it- people up here are stupid. Cigarette smoking in Mendocino County is twice the statewide average- how stupid is that?

And stupid people breed stupid children...that's why they call it Dope. So- this is expected. My advice to those of you who genuinely care about your children's education is to put them in private school, or home school them, or supplement their studies beyond the minimum requirements of a lesson plan.

Look at who is bringing down test scores. Average American kids do fine. A whole boatload of illegals and non English speakers who spend weeks out of the year in Mexico on vacation consistently dump California test scores overall.

This topic truly pisses me off. I am a dad of a great little girl, however she goes to Nokomis, what a joke, she brought home and did more homework from preschool than she does from Kindergarten. It is a joke, now I believe if if your an immigrant legal or not you need some schooling, I am not condoning free ride for every border jumper, but sense they are here and in the school, cut the crap and make everything in English. My daughter brings home one page of homework a week, funny thing is it is actually half page because it is split in English and Spanish. makes me so angry.. I mean c'mon, if the schools are not going to push the primary language of the country who the hell is.. I believe as well that this brings the scores down, these children are multitasking two languages before they barely get one down decetnly and then they are speaking Spanglish... When a kindergartner has to translate for their parents, there is a major problem... Anyways, we need our schools to educate our children, not cater to Mexis

The fact is that students who know two languages achieve more than students who learn only in one language. All American school should be required to learn at least one foreign language. Most other nations require two languages.

Yes I agree………………….But if you child can’t read or write English then you should not be studying a second language……..

I hear you…………And we took drastic steps for school for my children……..

My 6 year old has 14 school books 7 in English and 7 in Spanish………..

Two to three hours of homework per day………….

The class has two teachers and two aids with 12 students……They read and write two languages……..They are almost done with their multiplication tables…….They have science, art, music, health and a type of manors class……….
They wear a uniform and stand when told to do so and sit when told to do so…….

If a class is not performing the teacher gets a warning or two…………………….If no changes then walking papers…………….

But a good teacher here will make 20 to 50 times more than a garbage man…………….And the so so teacher goes and picks up the garbage……..

But a liberal will never go for a system like this…….They will never allow the borders to be sealed……….
And don’t kid yourself the private schools are not much better………….

What you are failing to point out is that these are 5 and 6 year old kids I we're talking about. You can't expect them to learn and understand another countries language and grammar if they don't even know the basics of their own.

A student who cannot speak, read, or write english cannot possibly score anything but 0 on any test. What are the numbers? How many students in UUSD? How many of them are non english speakers? Someone do the math and adjust the score? I don't think a high school non english speaker can read or write in spanish either.

Hey, I have a great idea! Let's pretend Ukiah is the only Community in California that has a large proportion of non English speaking children in the public school system! Let's ignore teachers who can't teach, children who can't learn and parents who don't care; instead let's blame it on the Mexicans.
