HPD Over Reacting

Man did they over react to the situation that happened today. I would sue the city from the responding patrolman to the mayor for their actions today.
All details will come out this afternoon.

Possible man with a gun on a college campus...is it even POSSIBLE to overreact? Watched the news lately?

The guy said he would shoot an active shooter himself if he had his gun. Who would wait for someone else to arrive if there was an active shooter where you are? Not me. If I had a gun and there was a true active shooter, I have the constitutional right to defend myself. I would not go looking for the shooter but would protect myself if he came to my location.

Personally I am glad that the Police Department reacted the way they did. Everyone gets mad because the police react on something and it turned out to be a false alarm. What would everyone be saying if they would not have acted on the call and it turned out to be something real and someone died? The police get the call, investigate and determine if there is something that needs to be done or not. Thank GOD this happened to be one that did not require further action and all is done and over with. Iím sure someone is going to be crying that I was done wrong and this should have never happened but the fact of the matter is the police have a job to do and it was done. With all of the things going on in schools around the world lately, how do the police not react? There is no way to over react in a situation like this. If anything there is a way to UNDER REACT! Bottom line is, donít do stupid things and the police wonít have to ask you about the stupid things you do. Got it STUPID?

Well DUH, from what I undestand they were doing a drill and got the call of a possible real threat and that is when things became real. So if you have "been there" you should understand the importance of taking these things seriously.

satified I have been there, that is the reason for drills. The first poster and a couple of the others was the reason for my posting. They should find out what was going on before saying something stupid. Yes I have been in those situations. They are not fun and games. I do take them "SERIOUSLY"

What if, someone that is crying about the way things were handled,if you ever need the police they just drive by your house and if everything looks ok from teh outside they just keep driving. We don't want them to OVER REACT.

Been there, duh so have I. But I always made sure the story is true and straight...which none of you or your buddies did, this is hopkinsville and makings things up is the norm. This town has not grown in thirty years, the same good old boy's don't want this city to grow, if it did they would loose control of things they think they have control of. We blow money and have one cop for every seven people that live in the city limits and we need a new city hall and cop shop. Priorities are messed up, work on growing the population, more taxs collected, then maybe more people and less cops driving around thinking of things to do or who to harass. Why do we have 26 unsolved murderers in this town. How much money do we put out just for our cops to ride around?

I don't think anyone their did...what a waaste and everyone one of them just left their cars run for hours while they harassed that family, then just left. Ok HPD spill the beans what were all of you doing there??? Please tell the tax payers.

Where in the world do you get that there is 1 cop for every 7 citizens. There are 32,000 people in Hopkinsville and 78 cops. That's 1 for every 410 people. Whining about things by blowing them out of proportion is a great way to get people to take you serious. NOT!!!

not again, I am not a Policeman nor have I ever been, but being a lifetime Military man and done and seen things the normal person will never see, I do believe in training and also have a respect for those that are brave enough to put on a uniform and do the job. For those that want to put them down without knowing the facts I don't have much respect for them. I don't know when you were in those situations but if you have all the answers put a uniform on and join those that are trying to do the right thing.

My daughter says there are no locks on the classroom doors. Is that true? She says they were going to... after what? A shooting there? Hey while you school officials are at it... put the locks on the bathroom doors also.

You did more research than I did, I think in 1981 their were 37,000 people in good ole Hooterville. It does prove my point. The place is not growing at all, kind of going backwards. What a same.

Don't say to much, they will use that for a reason to raise our taxes...silly me the school board takes their 4% every year. Another joke.

Well I did 25yrs all incombat arms, and wore a police uniform for several years...so think I can comment on this, for one several of the officers on HPD are vets and know better but are told what to do by the goodole boy's and girls that have infested HPD, so I can't blame them. But the ones that are born and raised and think they are entitled generally the smart/dum ass's. Thet know who they are. I must say the majority are or do the right thing, but all the nepotism is were the problem always been in hooterviile and always will. This town has lost 5000 in population in 30 years but every city and county agency has grown . I feel sorry for the officers in uniform that are vets and not from here. They will go with the program or get black ballled out of a job and will never get another job in law enforcement.

That's funny Bc not one person ever told the police anyone had a gun or seen a gun. The police added this to make the man look bad.

That is funny that a year later this guy would fig up his old news story to get attention for himself just like he did making a scene over at the college. Did he ever say why as a dropout and with full knowledge there was a publicly announced drill happening, that he was over there in the first place, much less why he was causing a stink in the library with his crazy political rants?
