As a native of Grand Rivers, I too mourn the loss of the Iron Kettle. I ate their at least 30 years ago, when the Nash family owned it. I'd grieve a little harder if the present owners, Chip and Mike Tullar, had not effectively colonized Grand Rivers, clear-cutting some of its best woodlands and turning the whole town into some version of a countrified profiteering Disneyworld. Back in the 70s I prevented a gang of local rednecks from burning out Chip and Mike for being openly gay--it was the right thing to do, as taking a stand against any hate crime is always the right thing to do, but had I known fully then of their monopolistic intent, maybe I would have not put myself on the line for them. They are a creepy gang of Log Cabin Republiklans now, and I won't be buying any more of their over-priced burgers.

My husband and I have been eating at the Iron kettle ever since we were married almost four years ago. We enjoy our trip to the lake each year and have always looked forward to the meal at the Iron Kettle hope the re-build goes quickly
