The ER is a joke. My dad was having a heart attack in the waiting room and they still didnt take him right back. We no longer go there we head straight for Nashville. And when I say we go straight to Nashville I mean it. Dad had another heart attack and dad said do not take me to jsmc ER go straight to nashville and that's what we did. We just don't bother with them any more. That's really sad that they are so bad. I was in there one other time and a man walked in with a snake bite and they made him fill out the paper work first and others were still being called back before him. That's crazy!!

You know you are right alot of down time sometimes depends on others....but also that time could be used to help other patients, doctors or maybe just being considerate of the patients that are in there being seen. Oh I'm sorry for being nosy, but the next time I have to visit the ER, I'll ask for a private room...you know one with no curtains dividing patients...that way I won't have to explain to a child why that nurses says she gave the best BJ in town. I have to say that this ER is not understaffed, they are running over each other while have there eats all laid out like a party. Coming in reaping of cigarette smoke while the campus is smoke free. Oh and why do doctors just stand back and look while workers give CPR to save a patient...or not show up at all to a code blue...better yet, there's nothing like seeing 12 people standing around watching one person do CPR on a patient, while the others laugh and tell jokes until someone finally gives a time of death. Yes I have it all confused...we are lucky to have such a great facility and staff of Heroes to take care of us...I can't wait to see them in action when a disaster strikes.

I don't think anyone likes going to the hospital, but JSMC isn't that bad, it's actually gotten better in the last several years

I challenge anyone who thinks they can handle that job to try it out. And your right...ppl should eat/smoke/bathroom break before coming to work, nurses truly can hold their bladder for 12 hours, not get a lunch break, and smoke cigarettes on the couple of breaks they DO get. I have only gone to the ER a couple of times in my life, and only when it's been emergent. I've seen those nurses. They run, they run fast and care as best they can. I even know a few of the nurses and would be glad to have them take care of me if something was wrong with me. I hope that some of you who've posted on this thread never have to rely on those guys. That'd be kharma biting ur ass. But I'm sure youd only bitch about the ones saving your tail, instead of being grateful.

If half the people that go to the ER for BS reasons the rest of us wouldn't have the wait that the ones on Obama care are crying about, it's so messed up that I actually have to pay for mine and their care, and the ones on the free wagon are the ones whining, it's not JSMC it's the whole health care system failing us

So you come to the ER with clap? LOL... Sorry that child or old man they were doing CPR on took some of your fame and precious time away there drippy...#1 wrap your $hit and #2 go get a doctor to rod you off range there son. Yes you're going to have to wait behind "emergencies" coming in the ER because guess what... no one ever died of a drippy ____. Maybe I should fill in the blanks here, you don't see very intelligent.
<quoted text>
Well they did apologize to me for not getting her back sooner because they didn't realize her condition was that serious! And the dr actually complained to the staff for her not being taking back. And I do know that for a fact the person that was sent ahead of my daughter wasn't serious because they even said she should have been seen before them because they were just sick and needed antibiotics. So yes I do know they weren't as bad off as my daughter.
I do hear your concern about your daughter and hate that she did have to wait so long for her treatment. What allot of people fail to realize is that there are two separate sections to most hospitals, one is "FAST TRACK" for quick in an out issues (need an x-ray or possible antibiotics for ear infection) and then there is the other areas in the back (people requiring more in-depth care (abdominal pain, asthma attacks, CPR, etc.; that usually require blood, CT, IV, meds, etc.,). The person that they probably called in front of your daughter was most likely a "fast-track" and your daughter required more care, like a CT and sutures. Though providers would like to get these patients discharged and your daughter in a bed, there is only so many beds back there and if they are all full, then no one moves out, no on can move in. Lab work takes time, X-ray/CT also takes time to process. So often the provider is left to wait for the results to come back to definitively diagnose a patient, admit/ transfer or discharge this patient, then clean the room, get the next patient back.

I agree there has been numerous times both very sick patients and the ones that need to go to a doctors office and they come to the ER to be seen only to have to wait due to the staff wanting to have a cigarette break or to eat before they see the patients. They should do this before they come to work. I have heard they can wait while I finish this food or the article I am reading. They need to remember that without the patients that come to the ER, they would not have a job.....but of course you do have the ones that are abusers of the system, but by law you can't turn them away. But there is Trover Clinic at Walmart now that will be able to help the patients if Jennie Stuart does not want them.....
Wow! Well I have worked in a few ER's and support them all in knowing that they ALL automatically deduct me for the 30 minute "lunch break" I don't get for the 13 hours I am usually there. I am concerned about you though. Were you in the ER because you were going deaf? I couldn't think of any nurse that has time to read in an ER because most of them usually are lucky to grab a drink of water or go to the bathroom while they are there. Did you step into a library by mistake? For your information, I will ALWAYS have a job because I will always having those patients needing their Lortab, or thinking that they just drove into Wendy's and they should be in and out of the ER in 10 minutes (complete with their Lortab-to-go, lab work, X-ray, CT and diagnosis). I have worked in a number of places and average wait time for lab work, once sent, is 30-45 minutes. Need a CT with contrast? Well then the CT tech is going to be waiting for that BUN/CR level on your blood work to come back, to make sure that we don't shut down your kidneys. Then wait for the radiologists to read the CT. People make me so sick to think that ER providers have X-Ray vision. Some things are that simple, others take time. So yes, please do go to a "clinic" if you do not have an "emergency" because you are probably going to be waiting awhile behind the people that are there for... guess what? Drum role people, "emergences!"
