Our local paper has hired local racist and NAACP president to write a racist column in our paper. I think it is time to call our this group to find a new leader. How much trouble has he started in town and how many kids with how many different women does he have. A real great example for our local black kids. I will not take the paper anymore and the NAACP needs to find a new leader that even their membership will respect. I have talked to many blacks in town and they cannot stand him but no one wants this job. He is another Jesse Jackson, all talk no action! Boot him out! He is a racist and hurts his group!

Lol. When people have a problem with the paper, why is the first reaction always, "I ain't gon subscribe no more!" That's the most childish reaction. I'm not gonna call and complain, do any adult things, I'm just gonna take my ball and go home.

Here's the problem with the OP. It's on the opinion page. Write a letter to the editor and you'll get the same amount of play. The opinion page doesn't reflect the opinion of the paper or anyone there, it's a tool for people to get their voice heard.

Also, they're not hiring the guy to write a 'racist' column, that's entirely misleading. They're paying him a few bucks every time he submits a column, maybe - they're paying him (again, if they are - I don't know the arrangement) to give his opinion. Pretty sweet gig if you can get it. One thing that's laughable about this is that you think the editors over at the paper are going to let something overtly racist make print. However, advocating for the black community is not racism.

The KY New Era is a very LIBERAL news paper where the editorial staff, especially Ms. Brown is an ubber liberal Obama supporting socialist IMO.

It is no suprise to anyone that a NAACP instigator will be allowed to voice the visceral hatred of America, freedom and equality that many in the black community now share through black liberation theology that is preached from black pulpits. It is a shame because the Democrat party is keeping Black Americans exactly where they want them...angry and in poverty dependant upon "the man".

You don't get the paper huh? Brown may be liberal, but she's also the Opinion Editor, and writes opinion pieces. Like I said, pretty sweet gig if you can get it. Also, if you look at the majority of the Op-Ed pieces that go through there, you'll find mostly conservative folks getting published. The paper endorsed Mitt Romney for god's sake, and you're calling it a liberal paper? Lol.

Did anyone notice something missing in this Weekend’s edition of the Kentucky New Era? On Saturday, February 2, the New Era welcomed Banks as a new columnist. It was rumored he would have opinions on the first and third Saturday. Guess what???? Today is the first Saturday after only three opinions by Banks and his opinion is not there.. Has Bank’s opinion gone the way of the Albatross? I will bet my whole farm against a ground hog that the New Era silenced Banks due to the controversial opinion he wrote on HCC and Jim Selbe. Many feel Bank’s opinion was the coup de grâce to Selbe. What sayesth thou Hopkinsville? Does the community think Banks is that powerful.?

Even the blacks in this town make fun of him, he is not leader of the black community maybe a self appointed leader. I respect someone like Mr Fort or Tom Bell or Joe Francis. banks is not leader but a big mouth that like to be the center of attention for himself!

Invalid opinion. Newspaper articles, as a rule, are written on a fifth-grade level so that even the more uneducated readers can understand it.

To say that a newspaper article has to be more than a high school newsletter, is invalid.
