I'm really wanting to know how good Dr. Hart is and what the baby ward is like. I'm 4 1/2 months and I've heard stories but I would just like to ask the public for their experiences. Please keep the forum on what I asked because that's all I need to know. I'm new to this area and mostly went to Paducah for my needs. Thanks in advance.

After reading about a friend's experience in the ER, I really thought about it but wanted other views. I'm not sure how my insurance works if I go out of state since I'm new to it. I'm not sure if it will cover or have to be referred. I'll have to see. Paducah is about 45 mins to an hour away now so with gas so high I couldn't make all my appointments but if I start contracting, I've thought about making the drive. I know how Madisonville works and that's definitely out of the question.

Well if that's all u can afford then Jenny Stewart will have to work it's not like there job is to kill baby's anyways, and pluss my buddies wife works in the baby's ward so I don't see it being that bad, just sayin there r always better places but that's about everything else to..

Stay away from Hart. He is to old to being doing his job and makes way to many mistakes. But I guarantee you he will tell you how rare your condition was and how sorry he was to have to do the surgeries he did. Dr Stitt is wonderful and he is a great dr. I would choose Stitt over any of the ob drs at JSMC. Or go to another hospital. There are some Ob drs at Trover Clinic by Walmart also.

Yea I know but I was just wanting to make sure. Cold feet going somewhere new and different I guess. I've had one bad experience with the birth of my first child and the second was wonderful. I was wanting to make sure my third and final one could be that great (excluding emergencies, etc)

I refuse to let anyone cut on me unless it's an emergency or they prove I need a c-section. That's one thing that I do not take lightly. I was told they were all by the hospital now but I will look into it. Ive been to Dr. Hart twice because I had to get a doctor but I would like a permanent one that makes me feel comfortable. I would prefer a female but I've went with a friend to see a Mrs. Wood but she don't deliver and there was just something about her that didn't sit well with me. Just exploring all options and making sure I'm doing the right things for me and my baby to get the best treatment and experience before I get too far along and don't have any options and stuck in a situation that has me on edge.

Needing to know: first of all, CONGRATS! Is this your first baby? My suggestion to you is this, call your insurance to see if they cover Clarksville or even Baptist in Nashville. It isn't just Dr. Hart at JSMC that my concern is with but PAA and a pediatrician will have to see the baby. I was pregnant for the third time, my first two were high-risk with premature deliverly and the third was unexpected. I had just undergone a radioactive scan about two months prior to finding out I was pregnant. My GYN was in Nashville and knew I needed to have follow-up due to that scan and meds. My Nashville doctor couldn't see me for the first OB appointment for almost two weeks so they wanted me to see Dr. Hart for tests. Long story short and please do know every pregnancy is different and mine was a rare situation, I had blood test every 2-3 days to ensure my hormone level was increasing as it should. I also had 2 vaginal ultrasounds. Dr. Hart assured me all was well. The day before my Nashville appointment and just 2 days since my last hormone blood test and ultrasound I started bleeding. When I got to Nashville the next day, I knew it wasn't going to be a good thing. The ultrasound there showed my embryo had stopped growing almost 2 weeks prior AND Dr. Hart never once picked that up! I found out a week prior to Christmas about it, the sadness and pain made it the worse holiday ever. I had to have a D&C because Dr. Hart did not catch the low hormone level and unviable embryo, if he had done his job properly then instead of having a D&C they could have known a less invasive procedure.

The baby ward itself at JSMC had some good nurses yet if the doctor is not skilled then it doesn't matter. My sister delivered her two there and by Dr. Hart, the first one was delivered by a nurse as Dr. Hart was in the hall on his cell phone and was told six times to get his ass in there (witnessed it!) and her last one had the cord wrapped around his neck and was born blue. Dr. Hart also delivered him and told my sister right after she pushed the baby out, we all were in shock, she saw, didn't hear any cries, flipped out and while Dr. Hart was working on the baby, my sister passed out. Her blood pressure and blood sugar bottomed out and the nurse told him she needed insulin twice along with her IV fluid opened wide to get her pressure up and Dr. Hart ignored the first time and yelled the second!

He has poor bedside manners and I know the few times I saw him before my Nashville appt, the waiting room was packed with young and I mean young women looking like they had a social economical situation. I'm sure he works hard but at his age and health probably shouldn't!

If you have to go to JSMC, then make sure you have someone with you at all times that knows your birth plan and will strongly voice that. Be prepared and ask questions about anything you feel makes you uneasy. Make friends with your delivery nurse, let her/him know any concerns, health issues, or fears. They will be your best advocate.

Good luck and best wishes. My situation was because of my scan and meds, however, Dr. Hart should have caught it and not let me suffer in so many ways. I was 5 weeks when I found out and at 8-9 weeks is when I had the procedure, so I had almost a month thinking I was pregnant which was the hardest for me. You have passed the biggest milestone in your pregnancy! Be safe this winter on the ice and snow. That was my husband's biggest thing, me and my off-center belly falling on ice.:)

If you really are wondering about Dr. Hart specifically, then why is the title JSMC? Two totally different things...also, if you have been to Dr. Hart twice, then you should have been able to decide on your own as to whether he was for you or not. I could give you some information (not good)but the post does not sound authentic to me.

He was in and out of the room within minutes. Like he's rushed or something. So no, I really didn't get a chance to pick up on anything. I've never really been to jsmc and would like to know how they are. I've read online that I can request a tour which I plan to do Wednesday but I wanted to know other ppls experiences and weigh out the pros and cons. No harm intended. My obgyn was like that with my 2nd child as well, always in a hurry which I did not like, but her bedside manner was great and she was always on top of things which weighed out everything. The only thing was after the baby was born. I know how my body worked and she refused to listen at my 6 week follow-up. I had to go to my PCP that knew me well and knew I knew myself well to fix the downward spiral I was going down(ppd)

People on topix are rude ! Most are pathetic really.
I can see your concern but If I can stress it enough DO NOT GO TO HART!! I can't go into Great detail BUT my really good friend had him as a doctor and was always rushing her and was weird at the regular check ups. When it was time for her to have her baby he wasnt there till the baby was almost delivered! It had to be an emergency c section cause the baby was stuck in the vaginal canal. I can't go into great detail because the mom
Wouldn't want me to on topix. BUT needless to say the idiot doctor almost killed the baby and my friend! The baby is alive but it has some health issues
Related to his decisions.!! Find another doctor!!!

Thank you. No, this isn't my first. This is my 3rd and final one. I haven't had any troubles out of my first 2 except hard labor with my first. This one, the ER thought I was miscarrying because I was having severe pain with no bleeding but I was showing signs. They did 2 ultrasounds and blood work weekly to make sure my numbers were going up properly and I kept on top of that. Did online searches, etc because they already gotten things wrong. Mrs. Wood had given me 2 due dates that I knew wasn't right because of my irregular periods, I tracked them and knew how often I had one. It wasn't til my ultrasound that I decided to switch ob's because of the frustration and aggravation I was having with her but I want to make sure I'm making a good decision with Dr. Hart. My hubby knows my plan even tho we are still discussing me getting a tubal(since I've read after a certain period of time your chances of getting pregnant go up and of course I've only had to have one surgery before so I don't enjoy being cut, poked and probed on)and mirena. I thought about doing depo again but some of the cons didn't sit with me since I plan to use it for a long period of time. And I'm a klutz because of my weak ankles so I appreciate it. At least once a year, I bust my butt on ice somewhere. But for all the answers I've been getting, I do appreciate it. I just want to find and sort out the pros and cons of this dr and jsmc or find another one before it's too late. I will call about Clarksville tomorrow since I have heard good things about them and if I have an emergency, it's just as close as Hopkinsville is. And for this other person, this is authentic, I'm just wanting to make sure I'm making a good decision for me and my baby before during and after the birth.

I'm 37 and using Mirenda (like an IUD), no pain to insert and stays in for up to five years. Most insurances cover it fully and you only pay for the office visit. It is good for irregular periods and usually you don't have any more or at least very light. I didn't want the have the tubal either so it was the best choice my doctor said.

The all women's OB-GYN at Baptist in Nashville is who I use. They are beyond words awesome and the nurses are always willing to answer your questions. There was one doctor in with Hart that was respectful with good bedside manners...Kristian Dubay (sp?) but I heard he had left or was leaving.

As for the mean-spirited comments, people get stupid on here..just educate yourself as you are doing and be prepared, at least you have done this and know what to expect generally speaking.

Thanks and I wanted Doyba but I was told the same thing. I've heard stories but I was told he was great. I was told he was in Nashville but idk. I'm about 1 3/4 hrs from there so it would be a hardship. Finding a good and respectful hospital without having to travel far is scarce around here.

I happen to have an affilliation with JSMC and the E.R. for MANY years, going back to when they first started employing full time E.R. docs. THAT is why I questioned the post as to why it was titled as it was. No disrespect intended, it just didn't fit what it looked like you were looking for. Having said that, there is nothing wrong with JSMC, although I am sure someone has a horror story. Every hospital goes through this, as you can't please everyone. You would be fine with the hospital, it is the doctor I would strongly advise you to think twice about. What I know about him is "authentic" and comes from affilliation with his colleges. I would rather not elaborate, but I would find another doctor if I were you. Good luck.

On a side note, although I can't go into details, this doctor is KNOWN for making horrendous decisions that impact both the mother and baby. He makes MANY mistakes and that was when he was young. He really should retire, as he is only still in it for the money at this point. HE just does not have a great reputation, rightfully so.

I am looking in Dr. Stitt since so many have recommended him if I could not afford to travel. And I also have a tour for the baby floor. But I do appreciate all responses and I do understand all hospitals have stories behind them but a few I wouldn't even recommend my enemy to go to and was hoping JS wasn't that way. Again, thanks!
