It's something you know when you take the job. Criminal activity is frowned upon and you probably need a drivers license.

If he was drunk it was his choice to drive so he needed to be arrested. The cops are held to the same expectations as anyone else. If he would of called one of his cop buddies heck they probably would of took him home. So it's his own fault if he loses his job.

As police officers they should all be setting good examples. I know this one and his time was coming sooner or later. He is out partying all to much. Partying at his age with his job will only lead to being arrested, divorced,or maybe he could have even killed someone while driving. It is one thing to be a 21 year old college student binge drinking every week but at some point you have to grow up fellas. With this said, there are some good family men that work for HPD and I respect those. The bad apples will get weeded out sooner or later. It doesn't mean my respect for police has changed. I hope this young man finds his way back to health and happiness. You all sure know how to kick those who are down, how about instead you pray for this young man.

He got me several years ago and would not give me a break and I lost about everything, got my life back together and doing good now. It is funny how things come full circle? Do hope he gets his act together.

So what, just because he is a cop he should be able to drink and drive? Should he be able to rob a bank and get away with it too? He should have thought about his JOB as a POLICE OFFICER before he got behind the wheel DRUNK!!!!! What if he killed someone? Should he get away with murder too???

Drunk drivers kill people. Why would anyone ever defend them? If you defend a drunk driver then you are as much a scumbag as they are. Hope you never have to see a friend, family member, or even a child buried because of a drunk. They should treat them just like attempted murderers.

There are a lot of people in jail who have done good and just made bad choices, but they still go to jail. He should be no different. What makes him better than all the people he arrested for DUI?

The truth is that it doesn't matter what this individual does for a living. Driving while intoxicated is a serious matter. Most of the time it is the innocent who become hurt.

A police officer however is severe. He takes an oath to take care of the innocent. When he drove illegally showed he didn't have morals and may be a police officer for the wrong reasons.

I realize everyone makes mistakes. He pulls people every day for making mistakes so he needs to remember that the next time he pulls someone over. He needs to remember what he did and have mercy on everyone else with the exception of drinking and driving because those individuals deserves to be punished.

His punishment should be as much as the worst punishment anyone he arrested got. Period. In fact, it should be worse for sworn in officers than for the rest. Fire him and hire another.

Why does this keep happening so often I wonder?
Will Myers
David Hyde
Tim Leyenaar
John Thompson.....all drove drunk recently.

Then lets not forget Monte Strode...he was the biggest drunk of them all. Maybe some free counseling for these people and their families??
