Does anyone think this project is worth the millions of dollars it will cost? I think the money and the upkeep could be spent on the poor in our community. Only a small % of people in this town will ever use it.

What is the scam part? It is a real project. It might be wasteful but that isn't the same as a scam.

Not a scam or a waste. Making use of otherwise wasted space. Unlikely to cost millions.

No disrespect to your post but to me it is a complete waste given that the money spent on the project could at the very least be spent on fixing the terrible patchy roads around town. Some places have had the same pot holes patched over and over and continue to get bigger. It's horrible.

Of course the richy rich republican’s dont see a need for a safe nice convenient accessible and FREE exercise place for walkers/runners/and bicyclists who are not filthy rich.
They have plenty of money and live in neighborhoods like NovaDell which has very nice sidewalks and drives to get all the safe exercise they want.

Projects like the Rails to Trails improves the counties appeal to potential new people looking for a place to move.

More people in the county ='s more revenue for the county!
The people who hate the rails to trails are also the same people who hate things like: public libraries, health depts, public parks, public tv (big bird), recycling projects.
A plan to beautify our county and turn an unusable eyesore into a nice usable place that encourages exercise, community, and pride should be praised….not vilified.
It will surely be more useful than that mud hole over on Eagle Way.

That is the most articulate defense of the project that I have seen. It certainly holds up better than the OP who acts like the money would be better spent in the "poor community" when you know by the general tone they hate giving money to poor areas or people.

Have u every ran in the turkey trott thats on thanksgiving morning. Been going on for several yrs. the money raised from that is going toward Rails to Trails. I am sure the poor in our community could come on out and help build the trail. Become empowered. Get paid from the funds that are going toward the project. Hey they might even learn a few skills or learn about exercise.

It's a total waste of our dollars when only a hand full of folks will use it and there are so many other things that is needed!

Yeah it should be spent on some more HUD houses for those poor folks on welfare who do not have to work much less be motivated to exercise. That where I would like my tax dollars to go...more freebies for the lazy "poor" people...must be nice to sit at home all day and try to decide which game show that you are going to watch!!!

Maybe they should have just saved the money instead of spending it on anything. Too much wasteful spending.

I think that the rails to trails could potentially be a good idea and be good for the community. But for how long? I feel like this will just be an opportunity for drug trade/sales and violence out of the main view of the public. If I'm not mistaken a good bit of the trails are in wooded areas, plenty of hiding room. Kind of gives me the creeps. Just saying.

I think they mean TV mostly does not have game shows on in the daytime anymore... so your reference shows you advanced age and how out of touch you are with the modern world? That would be my guess. Sorry I had to spell it out for you but you seemed a bit lost. Do you often forget where you park your car too?
