This is what happens when one family is allowed to purchase an overwhelming majority of gas stations and bulk plants in a 3 or 4 county area. If it weren't for Wal-Mart and Food City stores retailing gasoline, the market would be totally closed.

Gas prices are bad enough, but what gets my goat is the cold coffee, it,s bad if you ever get a hot cup, most the time 2 miles down the road you can chug it, 3 miles and out the window.

3 or 4 county area? Try from Ashland, Ky all the way down into Erwin, Tenn.! It's more like a 4 STATE area. Childers owned more than 70 DoubleKwik stores in four states before some were sold to Marathon. Not to mention the bulk plants and restaraunts they also own.

I'm not 100 % sure here, but I do really think that he had a hand in on Las Penos getting their alcohol license. I think, could be wrong here, but I think he's some sort of silent partner there. Only someone with his kind of money could get a lisence to sell alcohol in a dry county. LOL

I wish they would learn how to put friggin receipt paper in the pumps outside. If I stop to pay at the pumps I don't want to have to go in. All of the stores are bad for it. If I have to get out,I'll go give Dion my money,he needs it more.

The city of whitesburg was voted damp (any restaurant that can seat 100 people can sale alcohol as long as they have a certain food to drink ratio). Don had nothing to do with that.

Well like I said, I wasn't sure. That was what I heard, but you know how rumors go. That's also why I didn't take it as fact, since it WAS just a rumor. But thanks for clarifying.
