am wondering if anyone can tell me which town is better to live in clarksville or hopkinsville? I know all towns have the pros and cons ...thinking of moving to the area and thought I would ask around.

Factory work....or Call center..
I dont know if you have ever been to ybor city in tampa but I liked it I prefer the night life ...not the bars, but activities like concerts , also I like almost any kind of festival.

There is a call center in Clarksville and one in Hopkinsville.

Neither has the Ybor City nightlife. Clarksville and Hopkinsville have both tried to revitalize their downtowns into sports bars with good appetizers... Hogs Head in Hopkinsville has been successful and Black Horse Brewery in Clarksville has been successful.

Hopkinsville has a lower cost of living and no tax on food at the supermarket. Plus, Kentucky has a 6% sales tax instead of 9 3/4%

5 years ago, I would have said Hopkinsville is slightly worse. However, Clarksville has had a recent wave of violent crime which would lead me to say it is now slightly worse. Both places have neighborhoods to stay out of. I think the difference is marginal. Neither has the crime that a large city has though.

Kentucky does not have the sales tax on groceries as mentioned, but the tax does apply to prepared food such as in a restaurant. Also TN does not have an income tax. I find it better to live in Clarksville TN and shop for groceries in Oak Grove KY. I save income and sales tax that way. As far as crime goes, there are bad areas in both towns. Just check with the local cops about what areas are good or bad and you will be OK

Just remember - if you live in TN but work in KY, KY will take income tax. If you live in KY but work in TN, KY will take income tax. KY will get you either way. The only way to avoid that is to live and work in TN.

I live in Hopkinsville and work in a close by county in the school system. I will take my children next door because Christian County Schools are the pits. The Hopkinsville YMCA has been a blessing. We enjoy adult softball at tie breaker park. Really I don't think geography will make a person happy it is all in what you want to make of it. I love my life here.

Daily Horoscope for January 2

Pisces

Do not overspend on redecorating. Say as little as possible and concentrate on matters in hand. Someone you care about will be erratic and eager to pick a fight. To move that great idea, you need to talk to the big spenders. Run the idea by them and see if you cannot get a backer and a partner for your concept.
