Golly! We should ban Golf carts immediately! They are a huge threat to humanity and must be dealt with before anyone else gets hurt or killed! Strange, I've been driving mine for years in the woods,trails,ect.. without incident but because of a few people screwing up,I could have to give up something fun. Kind of sounds like a lot of things nowadays.....

I think it's ridiculous what goes on there and they don't do anything about it. I grew up out there with my grandparents until they finally sold their place 4 years ago, but since then I rent out a cabin every year for my birthday. This year, I was actually pulled over for doing 21 in a 10, and it brought up a lot of questions. In all the years I've been there, I have NEVER seen a golfcart get pulled over for going too fast even though they wiz past me when I'm driving my car through there. Golf carts can cut through the Golden onion parking lot at full speed but cars can't. Theres so many other things...

Mindi, I can tell you for a fact that I wrote a lot of tickets to kids riding reckless, speeding etc. But over the years they just don't hire quality Rangers. At one time they had EMT's, Military personell, even a few Allegan Co. Reserve Deputys. Now they just hire unexperience kids to be Rangers. You get what you pay for. SP is still a great family resort...just need's new management.

Just like everything else, it takes a few to mess things up for the bunch. And once again, the news media is going to be the one to make the masses see this as a threatening golf tool. Soon the whole lot of golfers will be dragging their bags as they walk from tee to tee.

Well, Ive been camping at Sandy Pines since i was 5 years old. I think if Sandy Pines were to not allow the visiting campers to rent golf carts from across the street, it would significantly lower the amount of golf cart accidents.

people get hurt....all the time... riding bikes...riding motorcycles...riding atv's...driving a boat...driving a car...riding a horse...Sometimes they get hurt because they are reckless. And sometimes they get hurt because of a freak accident. Let's not over sensationalize this one people. Let's all take the real matter to heart. Try to enjoy your summer....safely!

Well why don't they change the rules a bit...to maybe a licensed driver or slower speed limits in the park.

I've camped my whole life and golf carts never come to mind. Riding bikes, burns calories, and makes for a more fit camper. I've noticed alot of campers are flat out fat anymore. Ride a bike or walk it may save your life in more ways than one.

Was anyone else confused by this story? Where was the second accident? Where did all of these accidents happen? Seems to me the facts are misconstrued a bit to make the golf-carts appear more dangerous than they are.
