Criminals are always around, but the economy is driving people to do desperate things. We can thank the government for that, and the oil companies and Obama for the crazy gas prices. Hell, send it all to China, and make everyone in the USA go on welfare, or rob people.

Learn the proper use of a weapon, and get a CCP. And carry a gun for protection. It is your constitutional right.

Yes you can carry a gun when going to the store. As a matter of fact Virginia is an open carry State. It is not against the Law to strap a holster on your hip and openly carry a weapon. You need no permit to "Open Carry". Do not cover the weapon with a coat or jacket that is concealment. When in a vehicle if the weapon is in plain sight it is not considered concealed (on Dash or on passenger seat).

These are the only exceptions, for Carrying concealed with a permit:18.2-308 (J.3.): No person shall carry a concealed handgun onto the premises of any restaurant or club as defined in 4.1-100 for which a license to sell and serve alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption has been granted by the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Board under Title 4.1 of the Code of Virginia, nothing herein shall prohibit any sworn law-enforcement officer from carrying a concealed handgun on the premises of such restaurant or club or any owner or event sponsor or his employees from carrying a concealed handgun while on duty at such restaurant or club if such person has a concealed handgun permit.

18.2-308 (O.): Private property when prohibited by the owner of the property or where posted as prohibited.

18.2-283: To a place of worship while a meeting for religious purposes is being held at such place, without good and sufficient reason.

18.2-283.1: Courthouse.

18.2-308.1: School property. Exemptions to this statute include a person who has a valid concealed handgun permit and possesses a concealed handgun while in a motor vehicle in a parking lot, traffic circle, or other means of vehicular ingress or egress to the school.

18.2-287.01: Carrying weapon in air carrier airport terminal.

hopewell is really is a horrible place to live. no wonder people leave here. the crime is really bad. yes crime is everythere, but for a small place it is out of control.its scary to even go to a store. so many places and homes are being robbed. i have called the police so many times for someone harressing me and my husband , where we cant even sleep, and they come and tell me get a camera and call them when i hear noise. by the time i call them the people are gone. i have no one to help us. we are hearing noises now under the house. the door is messed up to the crawl space . going on now for over 2 months, and there not being caught. dont know what to do? i have been out trying to catch them , but cant and its dangerous for me as im not a young person. so i stopped. who do i turn to?

I have 3 pits that live in the house, but still when I got home from work, someone had tried to get into my house. I could see the marks they made with what ever was used to pry my door open. Maybe my dogs scared them off before they got inside ! I called the POLICE but they were not interested. Just looked around and left.
