Umm... call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure all tickets are for revenue purposes? Safety AND revenue. Don't speed, you won't get a ticket. & I hope TV crews do show up! I bet Newman will crap his pants, he started all this because he didn't get his way, now the Sheriffs are getting more attention than I'm sure he wanted!

You could say the same thing about the Sheriff. Maybe they will catch some footage of Greg Drinking in uniform and driving his City owned vehicle home, that would be a hoot. Imagine all the things we would see!!!!

These two could just be a womanizing, drinking, skirt chasing, dynamic duo. Oh how this will confirm what most in Hopewell already know. That Hopewell is a good ol boy run into the ground dirty little secret town.

Just the name of the show "Speed Trap" should give pause to anyone signing a contract and agree to do the show.

As much as that stretch of I-295 is NOT a speed trap. A speed trap is at a location that suddenly drops the speed limit, and Law Enforcement sits and stops speeders who did not slow down fast enough. This is NOT the case on I-295, the speed limit is constant.

By agreeing to do a show called "Speed Trap" the Sheriff diminishes the I-295 project and helps make the case that it is a revenue making machine. I am not talking about his personal financial gain, he is giving the money he makes away. I am talking about the program its self.

I just love how certain people make everything that happens regarding the Sheriff's Office and the City about Rick Newman.

Rick Newman had nothing to do with the start of the I-295 project. As Greg has said multiple times, Judge Nye approached him about the I-295 project and running radar. Yet many people see no conflict of interest in Judge Nye hearing a case regarding something that was his idea and that he wanted the Sheriff to do. It is all Newman's fault.

Rick Newman may very well be what you say, I do not know. I do know that the Sheriff is just as bad as you say Newman is. The Sheriff makes in appropriate comments to women and hangs out at bars also, so by your definition Greg is a Creep also. Yet you seem to think Greg is okay and Rick is not, Hmmmmm. Double Standard.

Was it the court case, where Newman tried to make the tickets state charges that brought this to nation wide attention. Or was it the Sheriff himself talking on the news about the proposed budget of Virginia and it's requirement that after a certain percentage of revenue from tickets, the state gets half of it. You decide. I think the Sheriff's comments to the local media had more to do with the attention then the Newman case.

I did not hear anything from the national media after Newman was ruled against. I heard plenty from the national media after AAA and Sheriff Anderson spoke on the local news.

Now you could blame Newman for Judge Nye having to step down from the Bench, since it was Newman's complaint that prompted the request from the Supreme Courts Chief Justice. I will say this, for those that have been in the know, it was often asked how Judge Nye could here cases regarding evictions. After all Judge Nye owns P&N reality. P&N owns rental property and accepts section 8 housing voucher's. That along with presiding over a case involving something that he (Judge Nye) approached the Sheriff about doing (I-295 project). If you ask me Sheriff Anderson has done more harm then good by telling his story on the news. After all Sheriff Anderson has given many media interviews giving Judge Nye the credit for the idea.

This whole mess is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the dirty little secrets in the cities government and courts.

If people have a problem with the Sheriff drinking and driving in uniform do something about it. Call the state police when you see him downing drinks at the Anchor Room. Or you could video tape it. Everyone has a cell phone don't they? most have video capability.
Now that would be something for the tv show.
