Even if she had something to do with her mothers death, she is still the child in it...I'm sure that a grown man unless he is some freak, is able to stand up to a 12 year little girl. I did see on HLN where the girl had changed her facebook name at some point in time to his last name...My guess is this pedo, found a desperate single mother with a girl, probably around the age he prefers, and then groomed the child, b/c no matter how grown up she looks or acts, 12 is still a child, she isn't even a teenager..He groomed this poor little girl to fit whatever sick mold he wanted...and I doubt any of us will ever know the real truth about what happens...but she should be able to get treatment and mental help..He should go to jail and not be allowed into protective custody..
If she (the daughter) had anything to do with her mother's death, her ass needs to be put in jail until she turns 21. I'm sorry but she is old enough to know right from wrong and that killing ones mother is wrong.

This story has been at the top of the news for days. Only an idiot would have missed it.
What is your excuse?

I am VERY relieved that the girl was found safe but I personally think that this seems a little off. They looked WAY too comfortable together in the picture taken at Walmart and as far as taking his last name on facebook......just sounds a little fishy. I do know that it is possible for ANYONE to be brainwashed, especially someone as young as 12. I just hope the truth comes out soon and that justice is served

what a shock this family is in for.. cheering it up on tv how wonderful it will be to have britt home for xmas and in time to put her mother away.. they will soon find out that britt has already put mother away... britt look s every bit the part of a brat and i bet there is a history of her running over her mother all the time, and did as she pleased. it's a shame this did happen but society needs to understand that this happens everyday. you don't move anyone into your home that you meet on the internet, you are asking for trouble. single parents need to always should always know who they are dealing with when you let someone move in with you, and yes do a background also. they may be nicest and best person you ever met, but once they get inside, look out...

Yeah it sounds fishy when they was going shopping at walmart together buying tents and supplies. I bet the daughter is in on it in some form or another. Looks like she grew up years ago.

IF it turns out that the girl is/was involved in her Mom's murder....would confinement til age 21 be the most that she faces?? 12 seems a bit young to be tried as an adult...has that ever been done in VA, anyone know?

Have a few questions about this...
I work a lot so I haven't had time to catch up on everything since she was found but, has anything been said about if he did anything to her? Did he rape her or just kidnap her?

Also, on the footage of them at Wal-Mart when they are walking out there's a good foot of space between them and she's walking by his side..he doesn't have a hand on her and she doesn't look distraught to me. Are they sure that this girl didn't run away with him on purpose? You'd think she would have taken off into the bathroom..or ran off at the register or something. At that age I would try anything if some scary man had me kidnapped and was maybe raping me...

If this has already come out in the news, forgive me. I just haven't had time to catch up on it all.

Let's put the blame on this tragic incident where it belongs; on Easley the 32 year old man. No matter how old Brittany looks she is only 12 years old, a child. For those of you so willing to blame the mother for meeting this guy on the internet and moving him in…Give me a break. In this day and age many people meet via the internet. They get to know each other and some form personal relationships from these internet meetings. Many of these “internet meetings” work out and long relationships ensue (even marriage).
Mom could have done everything that has been mentioned on here to check this Easley guy out…We do not know. In my opinion and experience of situations like this, this Easley character is a child predator. These child predators are very skilled at what they do. I think Britney’s mother was targeted by Easley. She was picked so that he could go after her daughter. Let’s not forget that Easley lived in the same house with Britney and her mother for over a year. So Britney was very comfortable with Easley.
This is probably a case of a child predator gaining mom’s trust just to get at her daughter. As I said before these predators are very good at what they do. This 12 year old girl thinks that this 32 year old man (that lives in the same house) loves her. She is 12 and a child, he is an adult. Britney does not have the mental maturity to decide to have a relationship with an adult.
Mom probably discovered this “relationship” between her daughter and Britney. Mom confronted Easley and may have told him that she was going to the police. This would be a predators worse nightmare (he was about to be outed as a child molester). Easley kills mom and runs off with daughter. Britney “thinks” she is in love with this child predator. Let’s not forget that Britney is only 12. Think back to when you were 12. How mature were you? What was your idea of Love? How did you feel when someone older (adult) paid attention to you? Think about this before you blame the child regarding this.
Let us not be so harsh on mom either. How many adults have had the wool pulled over their eyes by someone. The child predator Easley is to blame for this.

This is just my opinion and speculation on my part.

Guess you haven't seen many 12 year olds lately...I have a niece the same age, and her mom doesn't let her dress like a slut and watches her facebook page and photos like a hawk, but I picked her up from school the other day and the kids out there looked like what I remember kids in high school and college looking like. My niece does as well, kids are developing at a much faster rate these days...

I have also seen how easy it is for kids to follow along, especially younger girls with older guys, they will do what ever they think the guy wants to get attention. It is sad, but they are still children.
Personally I think she probably had something to do with the death of her mother, but she is still a 12 year old child no matter how old she looks and this guy was suppose to be a 32 year old, living out some sick pedo fantasy.

Hard to impersonate someone that hasn't been on here and said anything. And you call other people morons.
I don't care where you work or who you think you are but you show YOUR total lack of intelligence when you get on here acting the way you do. You are NOT superior to anyone on here and the fact that you THINK you are makes you look even more ridiculous.
If you feel the need to disagree with someone's opinion that's all well and fine. But, when you get on here acting like you are smarter than everyone ( which I can assure you that you most definitely ARE NOT) and calling people names, that just shows how childish and petty you are.
I think it boiled down to the fact that you did not have a legitimate argument for anything that was being said so instead you chose to attack people just because they did not know the whole story or because of their grammar mistakes. Next time you decide to try and "ACT" intelligent, maybe you should just keep it to yourself because all you have managed to do so far is make yourself look like an @ss.

While I agree with much of what you say, Easley had only lived in the home since October of this year....if the news reprts are correct.

I agree with you for the most part. The man is to blame period. Even if it turns out that Brittany is the one that actually killed her mom, I believe that it was because this man had her believing that he loved her and this was how they could be together. I am not BLAMING the mother but I do think more caution should have been taken when you are moving a man (or a woman) into the house with your child. I am not saying that meeting someone over the internet is not ok but it is MUCH easier to manipulate someone over the internet than it is in person. I have a daughter and I would have to know a man, his family and his friends for YEARS before I moved him in my house with my child. Perverts are everywhere and I think you are right about this man targeting this woman to get to her daughter. I do think if Brittany had anything to do with her mother's murder she should NOT get by with it because she is considered a child. At 12 years old you KNOW that it is wrong and illegal to take someone's life and you know the consequences.
