I saw a lot of changes, and I don't think it was better in the end. My opinion. Many faithful people gone to other locations. One should question any changes and be sure they are spiritually led. There needs to be accountability. Even though I'm not in the area, I hope to hear they've recovered.

Guys, you should be very careful with this man. He is dangerous and reckless and ruthless. The things I know would make you run for the hills.

That church has never been real good at preaching from the bible. Alot of good people there that do alot of good for the community, but most of the congregation couldn't tell you what the bible says, because they've never been taught.

If you don't live in this area, what makes you think can or should stick your"2cents in that church business??? Always someone trying to stir up trouble. Maybe you don' t know all the circumstances!!!!!!!!! As from preaching from the bible , you better come & hear the preaching. We have had some great preachers and PREACH FROM THE BIBLE. Read your bible. "thous shall not judge".

Home grown, are you referring to me? Their current pastor, the title of this thread, used to be my pastor, so my comments are directed at the initial poster.

I went to that church for about 5 years when Pastor Jeff was there. I've set through many a service where they sang and played music for 50 mins, and 15-20 minutes of Pastor Jeff, or Rebecca telling a story.
You need to learn the difference between someone stating facts, and someone judging.
Like I said, alot of good people go there, that do alot for the community, and Pastor Jeff is a very good man, but 95% of that congregation couldn't tell you what the bible says, because they've never been taught.

Looks like your from WV and that's where he came from. I've heard second hand things that did concern me and the term "ruthless" has been mentioned more than once but how can a man of God act that way? What is his agenda?

I know. It is hard to believe. And I have been asking myself the same question for a long time and did not want to believe it. I spent a lot of time talking to many people who were directly hurt. I was directly hurt. Five associate pastors that left the church after having conflict have been hurt. I would not put myself out there like I am if I did not feel very strongly. I am just not that type of person. But I also have my convictions that I, as a Christian, cannot let wrongdoing stand. I have received no apologies, nor have the 150-200 people that left a previous church. I have not seen any accounting or repentance whatsoever. The only reason I am commenting here is I do not want to let others be hurt. I am also very fearful to comment, but I refuse to let others be hurt due to my fear.

In answer to your question. One word, money.

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

First off I started this thread and you copied my name. Second the First Church of God in Mt. Sterling has had so many elders either leave or can't stand the "NEW" direction of VP Palmer and his music...it's doomed. I was there this morning. Camargo's church is picking up several and many other churches are being considered. Is it asking to much to have your pastor to respect Jesus and not wear blue jeans in his house of worship to share his word? I will leave the music program alone cause I guess his son wants to be in a loud rock band one day. They might want to change the name of our formerly respectable church to: VP's house of worship.

We must remember that we're following God, not man. If you're leaving a church because you don't like the leadership, then you're going to the church for the wrong reason anyway. As for what he, or anyone else wears, God doesn't judge us based on what we wear. He says, "Just as you are." Wearing jeans doesn't make a person less able to praise and serve God. People should feel comfortable to wear whatever they want. FCOG is going to do great things in this community. If you, or others, don't want to be a part of it, then we'll miss you and we'll be praying that you find a place that is a better fit for you.

I would agree on the leadership, except it seems from the posts that many are leaving. If that's the case, then they are in the wrong for leaving and should be changing the leadership. Just speculation.

I agree - wearing our best for church has only been the norm in modern times, and times are changing. I think putting on our best refers to being the best we can for Christ. Our commission is to spread the Word. More of my opinion - not fact.

This church is in a sad state of affairs. It is so sad as it has been such a leader in this community. We have a man that needs to be humbled and fall prostrate before the Lord in confession of such a harsh personality. The church then needs to follow up and all ask for personal cleansing.
