They didnt legalize golf carts they passed an ordinance that said they would turn there heads if your braking the state laws.
No one said go looking for them. When the cops see them they should do some thing about it.
And for cross walks and kids on golf carts its a safety issue. If not lets take the ones out in Millford and Rossville and start halling are kids on the trunk of are cars. Next time read the whole post. "But my hat is of to the shop owners that are open and the ones that are closed. They do try to make it look better. In Hoopeston and Rossville."
But they're not going to do anything about it are they? People in rural communities all over Vermilion county are going to keep riding golf carts and not getting in trouble for it. Meanwhile, people all over this county are doing everything from assault and battery to dealing meth and heroin to driving while they're trashed and nobody's doing anything about them either. If they do get caught, the charges either get dropped or they get lowered to basically nothing. These are real problems that are hurting alot of people, and these are what SHOULD be being handled by the police. However they are not, probably owing in part to people calling 911 because they saw their neighbor driving down their road in (gasp) a golf cart!

Cops have better things to do...and so should you.

And yeah it's a safety issue...just like kids riding on bikes, but you still haven't told me why they're not required to wear helmets and pads? Why do I have to wear seat belts but people on motorcycles don't even have to wear a helmet? Probably because life isn't always fair. If you don't like it, bring it up at a City Council meeting.

By the way, I did read your whole post...it was just you being a jerk, knocking on my town, and whining because evidently you can't stand to see people having fun riding down your street. Then I told you that my town is expanding and actually doing something about vacant building. Which leads us to how I ended my post and what you failed to respond to.

What has the city of Hoopeston done lately? What are they doing about vacant structures? What new buildings or businesses are going up? And why are you so worried about other people on golf carts when your High School doesn't even have a crosswalk? Don't you think that's a more important safety issue?

"over 70% of the kids in high school are on free lunch programs, so most of the town is on welfare."

How many of them are from Hoopeston. Last time I looked Hoopeston students are from other towns all so. And free lunch is given to family's with jobs but still dont make the money needed to make ends meet.

Way to sidestep it.

Just to clarify, I believe the kids deserve the food and are the victims of most often mom not knowing what a condom is. And you know that the majority of the kids out there are from hoopeston. If the parents can't make ends meet then they shouldn't be firing out children left and right. But they do that due to lack of education and opportunity in hoopeston. The majority of city leaders are inept and absent. That's why so many of them constantly run unopposed. They create nothing, they solve nothing, they champion nothing. They've been sitting on thousands of dollars raised years ago by students to build a skate park. Where are those dollars? Where is the skate park? This city fumbled away Caterpillar and a state prison.

Last month, the city posted hiring for a part-time janitor and dog catcher. So who is working to bring in jobs? Maybe they'll hire someone part time as an economic developer and street stripe painter.

Hate to admit it but that guys right...driving through rossville you don't see as many ugly broken down empty buildings like you do up here in Hooterville!
Yeah! Because over half of them burnt down and replaced by the Caseys. Have you checked out Attica street lately .....? What percentage of those buildings are being utilized? But you still cant park there on the street between 3am and 5am even if you LIVE in the apartments there.....youll get told its ok from the police department then get 15 tickets in the mail...(in the same envelope) totaling over $2,000. Now THATS what I call justice. Rossvillle can be just as bass ackwards as all the other crack heads and white trash and what was it that someone posted ...."black section 8ers" Ahhh the enlightened few...The intellectual elite of charming Rossvillians

1) about 70% of those buildings are being utilized, maybe more.

2) is somebedy whiney because they got ticketed 15 times, most likely deservedly?

3) Yeah, black section 8'ers, You ARE aware that Vermilion County absorbed 800 of Cabrini Greens' finest aren't you? Or maybe as a member of the "intellectual elite" you don't feel the need to read a newspaper.

I think your all funny , Rossville isn't as great as you try to make it out to be or as beautiful as you try to make it out or drug free and clean or law biten as you try to make it seem and sound ! I've seen this hole county and lived in this county for years well should i say most my life and im 40 and it's all shit in some way or another !
I think some of you really over look allot of negative things in this area and also thing's that go on that shouldn't be and the things you do acknowledge you try to scrape off on other towns and counties and community's or certain family's or certain people when the problem is right here and it's more then a few people and more than a few problems ! Problem's that are here need to be acknowledged and dealt with and not brushed off and ignored or proclaimed to be a problem some where else and not here or just blamed on a few people or outsider's that have moved here !!
You truly need to look stuff up on just our area on the internet where not doing to well for such a small community ! It's ridiculous how much violence and drugs and theft's among other thing's that go's on here !
Try truly to get out of your protective bubble and crawl out under your rock and try to welcome your self to the real world and get out of your fantasy world and opens your eye's and try to see thing's as they truly are !
For hoopeston it isn't much better or any other town , village , city in this county!
some of you i agree with but not all the way !
I'll tell you what "Larry", why don't you post whatever negative articles you can find on Rossville. Then let me know where you live and I'll post whatever I can find on your town.

I think you'll find my list is alot longer then yours, considering our crime rate is about a tenth of the national average.

Or you can just come back with some ridiculous comment to try and change the subject because you know I'm about to make you look like an idiot.

Wow you put me in my place. I guess I did deserve ALL those tickets in the same envelope 15 days later...Yeah that was fair...and of course I know about the "negroes" from chicago.I guess I dont qualify for the the intellectual elite of Rossville because I didnt realize "somebody" was actually spelled "somebedy" . Please....I beg you you to let me into your elitist club so that I too can feel better about myself and condemn those with different perspectives based upon their own meager personal experience.

Obviously, you DID deserve the tickets you recieved. What were they for anyway? I'm willing to bet you did something wrong, you were warned about it...and you continued to do it anyway. That IS fair, and although I should have checked my spelling, at least I wasn't charged $2000 for being an idiot.

Mel....your assumption that someone must be an idiot because they received tickets and the fact that I wrote and explained what happened already and why.... is an indication of how little you are actually trying to participate in a conversation and instead prefer trying to incite argument and insult people without basis. Go find something to do. Honestly...if you dont even know why I received the tickets but youre assuming im wrong and trying to insult me....it really shows how closed minded and slanted you are and doesnt even require or impel me to insult you in return.....youve already proven,,,,calling you an idiot goes without saying.

Im assuming you must be an idiot because you claim you recieved $2000 worth of tickets for parking violations you didn't know you were violating.

You're the one who decided to go online and cry about being treated unfairly, evidently not realizing that other people can comment too. Welcome to America.

How are you doing getting those tickets dismissed? Do we get to hear you cry about that too?

Well in a blog about Rossville police I simply stated my personal experience....I was simply sharing , not crying. Yet again...Ill tell you I was told I would NOT receive any tickets for parking in front of my apartment ( which I had been parking in front of for over a year). I was told this by the Rossville Police department. It was explained to me that I was allowed to park where I had always parked because I resided in the building. About two weeks later I received ONE envelope stuffed full of over 14 consecutive tickets.. I was actually approached and told I could park where I always had parked. Excuse me for believing in the integrity and honesty of the local law enforcement. You can berate me and call me a "cry baby" but it doesnt change the fact that I believe if a person or organization or institution gives you their word then that should mean something..But I guess it doesnt and to voice my dismay over it gets me called names. Welcome to America.
