Yeah, I think it is crap that these non-licensed vehicles can pull out in front of enybody they want and expect real cars to yeild the right of way to them. Get a driver's license and a real car if you want to drive around town. Just because this town is turning into a retirement community doesn't mean we should have to deal with this crap!

Well, I happen to live on a street in Rossville that sees alot of traffic from golf carts and it doesn't bother me. By the way, I'm 30 and I moved to this "retirement community" because it's one of the only towns in Vermilion County that's not absorbing a bunch of Chicagos section 8ers and their crack habits. I'd rather deal with the occasional golf cart and not have welfare blacks and white trash trying to rob me.

Rossville has almost as much crack in it than Hoopeston! And every week someone is getting broke into! Makes me wonder if your living under a "rock".

Actually, we haven't had any break-ins lately, and if Rossville has as bad a drug problem as you say, they certainly hide it well.

Well I dont have time to start from the beginning of all the breakins, but just 3 weeks ago ( the same day as the last fire) 3 houses were robbed! Hello?....the kid went to jail for it! He needed a fix! Steal it...sell it.....smoke it! The fire before that....he never stole anything, but he did sell some crack......ok, the fire before that..the grandkids, stole some shit, stored it at g-mas empty house! Left some of their "stuff" burning and waaalaaa. Another fire! Should I keep going?

We sure are. We're good at actually ENFORCING the laws on our books, unlike every other town and village in the county. And thank God for that!
Did somebody have to pay a fine??? Oh Boo-Hoo!! Welcome to America moron. Nobody feels bad for you here.

I like our community...if you follow the laws, you won't get a ticket...pretty easy really. Only thing regarding golf carts, is I wish they didn't have to have some many regs added to them to make them legal...

They say follow the laws and you dont get a ticket.
State law says you need a tag to operate a vehicle
on public roads.
There are two things that get me about the golf carts sorry 3.
1 We pay good money for cars that pass state regs
for safety shouldn't the carts be the same.
2 How can they let kids ride in or on them and were did the car seat laws go?
3 The big wheel carts are they really a golf cart?
They build and sell all kinds of carts for the disabled that are legal.
The state or county needs to step in and start
handing out the tickets.

You wish to compare run down buildings?
Take a walk down your main streets in Rossvile.
Dont miss the one with the warning unsafe do not enter. Main street flash in the windows but is the business open. I think it would be safe to say that 80% of the buildings are in bad need of repair.
But my hat is of to the shop owners that are open
and the ones that are closed. They do try to make it look better. In Hoopeston and Rossville.

Well, too bad Rossville is one of many towns in this county that passed an ordinance allowing golf carts, and the state and county don't care, and have better things to do then spend days driving around looking for people driving golf carts in rural towns.

Kids ride bicycles in the streets all of the time...and have for years...with no seatbelts, and as far as I know..there aren't even regulations that bikes need a certain amount of reflectors on them. I'll tell you what..the State and County better come in and check on these d*mn kids! Start writing their parents tickets! Make em' register those bikes for a fee, and if they don't meet certain regulations those kids should have their bikes confiscated! We should even require bicycle insurance, in case your kid hits me or my vehicle and I sue you!

While we're at it..I see alot of people riding dirt bikes and four wheelers in the country. We better get the State and County out here and start writing tickets! I see them riding in the fields and ON A Public Road. Can anyone say RECKLESS! Better get the State and County! What about when my neighbour drives his riding lawn mower giving his grand kids rides down the street? Shame on you Rossville Police! How dare you let someone recklessly operate a lawn mower on one of our streets simply to have fun! He should be arrested!

That's how stupid your argument sounds.

I'm sorry you have such a HUGE problem with the fact that their was a VOTE that allowed us the RIGHT (as in the freedom to..) drive golf carts, in town, responsibly, and if I'm not mistaken here..after we register them in town for a fee. And I'm sorry that their are MANY rural towns in Vermilion County that passed the same ordinance.

The people giving their kids and grandkids rides are the same ones that would be giving them a ride on the riding lawn mower if they didn't have a golf cart, which is, in my opinion, much MORE dangerous and not illegal. Did you almost hit someone on a golf cart once? Is there a reason for your concern other then just complaining?

So, in short..

1)I'm sorry cars are so expensive.
2)People don't drive them to Danville, they drive them down the street, when there's a law saying children HAVE to wear helmets and pads while riding their bikes we'll talk.
3)No, Big wheel carts aren't golf carts...golf carts are golf carts.

Oh, you must have missed it this summer when the village had work crews gutting, repairing, and rehabbing some of those same buildings you're speaking of.

I know of at least 5-7 businesses in buildings downtown. And I know of a few apartments above those buildings that are filled. Actually there are only two, maybe three buildings that need major work, and you can be assured that the city will be looking into what to do with those. Besides, we don't really need them filled right away. We've already added on a Dollar General and soon we'll have a medical clinic...both built on the edges of town. So all in all Rossville is doing great!

What has Hoopeston done lately to rehab any buildings or bring businesses in?

Oh, I just read in another thread that you guys need a crosswalk by the high school. That might be a good place to start....maybe to raise the money you could legalize golf carts!

They didnt legalize golf carts they passed an ordinance that said they would turn there heads if your braking the state laws.
No one said go looking for them. When the cops see them they should do some thing about it.
And for cross walks and kids on golf carts its a safety issue. If not lets take the ones out in Millford and Rossville and start halling are kids on the trunk of are cars. Next time read the whole post. "But my hat is of to the shop owners that are open and the ones that are closed. They do try to make it look better. In Hoopeston and Rossville."

You're 1000% right on both posts. Hoopeston hasn't done a damned thing to bring in business. They're excited about "getting a new Mcdonalds."

The city is all part time people, and all the people in this town bitch about welfare and big govt...but the only new building in years here was the HUD low income housing project...and over 70% of the kids in high school are on free lunch programs, so most of the town is on welfare.

Hoopeston absolutely sucks, due to it's lazy, racist, poor white trash populous and entitled attitude. There are some good people here, but they're out numbered 100 to 1. It's a White trash zombie circus. Only the cash only bars and liquor store that does a business. Wonder why hmmmm?
