I purchased an ointment called Devils Claw by a Tlingit woman in a shop in Icy Strait. She said it was great for back pain relief. After I got home from my vacation I looked up info on Devils Claw. Everything I found says it originates from Africa and the Kalahari Desert. How did it end up in Alaska? Does anyone know? I took it to be a local remedy that grew up there. Thanks in advance for any info.

The ointment you are refering yo is from the devils club not claw..........2 different plants.
we dont have devils claw in Hoonah but if you need devils club ointment or skookem ointment, we can supply you with our yes "local" products
