Just in case there are are those out there who think that the instrument referred to is the Egyptian Wurlitzer organ from 1925, it isn't. The Hood River Wurlitzer was added to the Egyptian organ in 1955 by organ enthusiasts Phil Giles and Loren Minear. The error was in assuming the organ was moved to the Egyptian when it opened.

Further evidence of the dismantling of history in Coos Bay. First they basically shut down the historic Egyptian Theatre and then start giving away the contents. Bah! What's next? Auction off the great sculptures in the lobby? I remember when I heard about some art group buying the theatre, my first impression was not a good one. And now I hear about this.
