I thought that news journalists had to know how to use proper grammar.

A Pacific storm is expected to hit Oregon and southwest Washington Sunday night through Monday with strong and potentially damaging winds.

Is a correct statement.

I agree with Iowa. There are people whose family members are lost forever and all you can worry about is whether or not someone is using correct grammer in their reporting? And then to bring up the battle of Vietnam? Iowa, it just goes to show that the type of people who sit around on these types of things are under-educated if you ask me. I was googling to see if they had perhaps found any new information on the missing climbers. I was actually up on Mt. Hood the week prior to them going missing, skiing with my family and the weather was beautiful. Too bad these searchers can't catch a break. Vietnam...I apologize for my fellow imbecile Americans... they apparently know no better.

Key to damage from this approaching wind storm is how saturated the ground is when it gets here. The light snow's now melting at my place, but I've read of some heavy rain and possible flooding will precede this storm. That's a very bad combination -- the fir trees just lay over in the mud! Lacking heavy rains or melting snow the tree roots should anchor them pretty good; or maybe they’ll snap off instead from the wind gusts?

Either way, this sounds bad … meeting some yet-to-be-used "Bad Storm" high ranking! Get your lawn furniture in; prepare for a power outage, warm up your generator and chainsaws, make sure the gameboy's charged and radio has good batteries - and hunker down!
