Honolulu Police have a new gadget aimed at scanning your cars license plates... Police unveiled the cameras today... The automated license plate readers can hone in on any cars license plate within close range... A good first step but a lot more should be done with the technology. Only if the car is wanted? What about unregistered? What will be done with the car if found illegal? Will they be towed and impounded, Or will it be the usual five tickets and the driver then allowed to drive off as they are now? I have been hit three times by unlicensed drivers driving uninsured cars and the drivers were let off the hook by the police officer. It would be nice if they finally suffered some consequences
