Re: Union excesses must roll back

"Though I do not necessarily hold myself out as "someone who knows," I am compelled to offer an answer to the question of Walter Takeuchi's letter ("Raise excise tax to fix state's woes," Star-Bulletin, Jan. 3)..." by Ron Kienitz

Fortunately for Walter Takeuchi guillotine guilds are a thing of the past. His insipid letter suggesting to raise the General Excise Tax ranked right up there with "let them eat cake."

Mr Port, are you stamping your foot because Rush didn't address anything about the unions?
What would have been the purpose?
His compliments were about an amazing experience and the treatment he received at one of the finest hospitals and I doubt very much if he cared if it was union or not. Union people are not the only people that can actually give great service.
When you are in fear of your life, that is the last thing on your mind.
I think he was being sincere and really thankful for the attention he received while here.

I'm sure many of us were praying for Rush Limbaugh during his recent hospital stay. Oh, not for his recovery, but for the good Lord to take the sob "home".

Every system is working great when you have the money like Ruch does. That is how Rush can claim the health system is great. In fact, Rush can simply pay cash and not even bother to even carry a health plan. Money does talk!

OK, to the well intentioned, yet terribly ill-informed 10th grader: don't you have access to the internet, or a decent social studies teacher?

All that anyone needs to do is to take a look at all of the GOP lawmakers who voted in opposition to the Stimulus Plan, constantly denounce it as a failure, yet continuously take praise and credit for jobs created directly by Stimulus funds!

look here:

http://thinkprogress.org/2009/12/28/more-stim...

Further, if you want to see exactly where these funds are going, just take a look at Recovery.org , which is basically a stimulus tracker. Here:

http://www.recovery.org/

And lastly, MY JOB, and the entire firm that I work for have been saved by work that we have procured which were jobs created DIRECTLY with stimulus dollars.

In short, without the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 our firm would never have survived

Please, do a little more 10th grade research..

Willie: At least I'm honest and own up to the fact I'm from Detroit.
You, on the other hand, are pond scum, don't know where you live or why, hiding behind 30 years of "military service".
And probably the psycho who puts on the board "6-6-6" for Alice every day.
Like Limbaugh, do we now, dickweed?

So the bottom line is, without the welfare plan AKA the stimulus you would not survive.

What will you do next year when the funds dry up?

At some point the Chinese will quit lending us your welfare check you know.

Let post office face competition
.
You're the first person that I've heard to get letters and packages post marked the 15th and you receiving them on the 31st of December. So, I suspect your honesty on that. If you contracted the Post Office, you may not get mail delivery. The contractor may say you can pick it up because it's too costly to deliver to your area. Just like the Mayor by passing you with his train. Think about it. The Postal Service does an outstanding job. I mailed a package to a Village in Malaysia by priority mail and it only took 7 days. 20 years ago it would have taken over a month.

Yes, Rush Limbaugh probably does not need a health care plan because he is paid $38 million a year to spew his lies as he tries to destroy our country. He can buy all the drugs he needs. He probably came to Hawaii because Obama was here and he saw a chance for some publicity, and maybe to steal a headline from the President. He probably admitted himself to Queen's for the same reason, unless he thought he could buy another doctor for some oxycontin or some oxyincontinent. If you have ever listened to him on the radio, you know he is a sick person, but it is not his heart. It is in his head.

Willie, no Sir. If you really want to talk about 'the bottom line' wouldn't that really be the bottom line created by the Grand Old Spending Party under Bush? After all, it was his administration that drove this country into the dirt. But we aren't supposed to be looking backward, right? It's also important to understand the difference between the national deficit and the national debt.

Bush could not under any stretch of the imagination be called a fiscal conservative. He left office with a $750 Billion parting gift, and nationalized our nations largest banks (i.e. socialism). And then his party has done everything possible to pin that on Obama? It was pure and calculated Presidential sabotage.

Without the stimulus how exactly would we have been better off?

I'm so glad that the price of homes has declined. And continues to decline. A house should be a place to live in, not to see how much profit we can make by displacing many who cannot afford. Perhaps this will be the first step in solving the homeless problem. It will make rents more afforable.

Let me see, you must suffer short term memory loss. Your demi god Obama actually asked Bush if he would speed up that 750 billion gift before he was sworn in....guess he was on the same page as Bush. I suppose no other adminitstration before Bush had a hand in the downhill slide we have been on since about 1950 right? Bush IS gone and BHO IS in charge...quit making excuses for his mistakes, he is NOT our saviour and time will prove that.

Yes if I was a San Franciso March Mouse I would be really happy with the stimulus bill, got me millions to improve my habitat.

Spending your way out of a recession (with borrowed money no less) makes about as much sense as eating your way out of obesity...call it what you want it was welfare and it just postponed the enevitable, the END of your firm when the money dries up.

I have never said WHERE I live, you are the one who keeps insisting I Live in Detroit. I have shown you time after time I can put ANY city in just by changing my ISP...but hey, keep up your illusions.

Not sure why my military service has anything to do with anything, again you show your true colors. Have a wonderful day.

Liar: Then why post all your tripe from "Farmington Hills", "Walled Lake", "Novi", "Troy", Birmingham"?...who in their right mind would choose cities around Detroit if not from there? You're shallow, fake, and a fraud. Go lock and load and keep us safe while you're in Yemen.

Limbaugh makes $30 million a year. He's richer than Tiger Woods, but w/o the blonde chicks.
Health insurance for him is not even on his "To Do List".
Guy could hire a private plane and fly anywhere the best possible medical personnel were at, call ahead, have 4 physicans waiting, and get immediate help, and room service.
Can't wait for him to exploit this one.

Rush is an entertainer hon. The more outrageous he is, the better the ratings. Why give him any credibility? He is irrelevant

Nope. I want Rush around to guide the Conservative faithful. The more he speaks, the more he diminishes the party down to its core.

I'm glad he's feeling better and I'm glad he was happy that he got good health care -- the same health care he would have received if he were poor person and not famous and ... uninsured.

WOW! the whole "Marsh Mouse" debacle was debunked in February of '09!!! You may not have heard but it was proven to be COMPLETELY FALSE. Nowhere in any stimulus appropriations was there anything about a mouse, NOWHERE. geez man, read a book!

And Willie, spending during a recession is a bad idea? Let's hear your alternative? Is it more tax cuts for the rich? In case you haven't heard, the entire "trickle down" economic theory was proven beyond any doubt (even by your buddy Greenspan) to be a complete disaster that does not work.

Let's put all of that aside for a moment and just take a look at a few important quotes that pretty much sum up the guys that you helped to ruin our country:

Thanks to the United States and our fine allies Afghanistan is no longer a haven for terror, the Taliban is history, and the Afghan people are free.
(Aug. 14, 2003 George W. Bush)

Major combat operations in Iraq have ended, and the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed.
(May. 2, 2003 George W. Bush)

I think they are in the last throes, if you will, in the insurgency.
(May 31, 2005 Dick Cheney)

awesome!
