I can't read the rest of the article because the obnoxious real estate ad keeps popping up in front! When I click on the "close ad" button I get a full-page, even more intrusive ad.

Tourism was flaling before the bad Bush/Lingle economy nose dived. Hawaii needs a different approach. HTAis useless and does not udnerstand tourism.

If you are using Firefox, try adding on Adblock Plus and Flashblock. They keep pages clean from most annoying ads.

Lazy, lazy, lazy. This is what happens when you put all of your eggs in one basket. By marketing the Honolulu Marathon principally -- or is it only -- in Japan, you miss the rest of the world. And how nice it would be to see a well-rounded, truly international field of marathon visitors.

President Barahal, mahalo to you and your organization's time and effort expended to maintaining this terrific event! I completed my first marathon in last year's event and it has changed my life with continual positive outlook on my life, filled with a "can do" attitude!

Wishing the Honolulu Marathon Association much success in the years ahead. I convey my hopes that the number of actual participants resurges and surpasses all records in Honolulu marathons to come!

See you at this year's starting AND FINISH lines!

The add on No Script is a pain, but it has kept me out of trouble.

tutu is right..HTA and the Lingle fools put all of their marketing eggs in the formerly easy Japan market. They missed the boat of broader markets. Trouble is, HTA does not understand international tourists or mainland tourists for that matter.

Yeah! They should try Mexico. They must be in great shape always running away from those drug dealers.

Run if you can. Marathons are never easy.

The Elite runners tend to be Kenyans.

OK Department of Tourism, stop reading the porno emails and arrange for more flights for these runners. The marathon is long enough without adding hurdles. Earn your keep you slobs.

Agreed. It's clear the issue are the lack of flights from Japan. This isn't something new either. It turns away a lot of Japanese tourists. They don't want to be on standby flights; just getting to the airport can take them 2-3 hours in itself.

Maybe its because the Honolulu Marathon is one of the worst organized marathons in the nation. Don't forget the thousands of people who were given inaccurate times last year.
