6-7 on a good day, 5-8 is more realistic. take off the rose colored glasses hawaii, we have more guys getting injured than guys stepping up. it'll come down to who is on the field, and we'll be relying on too many unproven players......our O line is on the verge of collapse, and the D line is good for 1 rotation at best. maybe with our new punter we'll be like we were with McBriar....NOT....support the ONLY game in town, win or lose, i know you'll booze.

So what are you saying Dave? By the UNLV a lot of injuries will have happened and the talent thats left is so poor that we will lose the next few games? I think if UH loses it's not the talent level but a combination of things. Most of it will come at the lack of discipline and penalties. Hopefully that will be cleaned up.

Why do the Warriors pad their already weak schedule by blaming Arkansas central High School? Does Mack think he will impress anyone by a big win there? makes no sense.

Hi Dave, I just have to comment. Yea of little faith, but perhaps possess realism that I cannot. 8-5 season. and they beat UNLV, Fresno St. and Navy.
Come on Dave, UNLV still has a ways to go.
Fresno will be in "Our House." And well Navy is too one-dimensional. Hawaii speed this season will neutralize their running.

Dave, I appreciate your realism. We can approach records like 6-7, 7-6, and 8-5 as a 'bonus.' I still say that a 5-8 would be very disappointing, even though this record shouldn't surprise us at the end of the season. Let's hope for the best in the meantime.

I've always said this. We have better players now than those years when FIU and PSU socked us in the jaw during the first game. I hope ron calls the right plays and I hope the players execute. Coach Mack is naturally a defense guy, so I'm not as concerned. This is a year when a lot of no-names will emerge. This is absolutely related to what you are talking about in terms of depth. We got good players and here will be a great opportunity for them to grow. I"m not real worried.

Good for calling it like you did DR. For my sanity, I hope you are wrong. I actually feel better about going in to this year than I did last. We'll seeeeeeeeeeee.

UH always overachieves. In terms of talent level, there has been quite a few teams who has better individual talent. The best example of that is Fresno State last season. A lot of people expected Fresno not only to beat UH, but smash UH last season. Who won that game? A lot of the football experts thought UH wasn't going to make a bowl game. We had a game around X-mas time. That's the way Hawaii has played since 1999 and I expect nothing new this season.

Ur dreaming if you think that hawaii is going 5-8 this year, offense will be much better, and yes a lot of talented JCs on the new d, with macks defensive mind the d should be good not great at first but good, I cant wait until they prove you wrong, just listening to the motivation and the way the PLAYERS are hyping this years team...you are way wrong...and if Im wrong at the end of the year ill apoligize for this post...but cmon...Get some Hawaii fever and GO WARRIORS

If Gordy Shaw is as good as John Estes claims, the offense will put some points on the board this year.
That being said, that would give the D sometime to develop their identity. Previous years it was the other way around. This year the O carry the initial 2-3 games then let the D make it's mark.
Go Warriors! Imua.

I believe Dave is the Sports Editor. The man in charge. You can always predict Dave's predictions. He goes out of his way to prove he's not a homer.
Not as biased as the Advertiser staff. That's fine -- whatever makes him happy. It's a brand new season, a brand new team and there's plenty of time to write columns about weaknesses and losing records. You've accomplished your objective Mr. Reardon -- most of us would rather focus on how hard the team and coaches have worked and wouldn't it be great if they had a winning season with minimal injuries. I guess every team has a Dave Reardon --- the know-it-all journalist who probably never played a down of Division 1 football. Go Warriors -- have great season!

Well it's better to suggest winning by hard work, preparation, dedication. Hawaii players can compete by doing their best. Some on the offensive line are NFL worthy (Estes). Remember Hawaii is still non-BCS bowl eligible. Wouldn't it be nice to see red Wisconsin get beat down by the warriors? Go blue colors!
