This is really stretching my memory, but I think our car had a push button starter. There was a Flying A gas station in my neighborhood. And then Phillips 66. Stamps were 6 cents.

We had a TV antenna on our roof. We could only catch one station clearly at at time, cuz we lived in valley. Every couple of months, my dad would adjust the antenna and we could catch another station clearly. And when you turned off the TV, there'd be small white dot in the middle of the screen for a while.

hahahahaha..I'm chuckling already!!!

I almost forgot about the 6 cent stamps.

I still can't shake the "Hele on Braddah"
jingle from Lippy Espinda-first full on pidgin
talking commercial.

Incredible image of the past-it was sticky stuff.
Now that I think about it, it made the guys look
like wax museum fugitives.

I had a collection from Kramers.
They smelled a certain way. I think they
should bring 'em back. Very comfy.
As dorky as it sounds, I had a Pat Boone
sweater and high water pants.
Thought I was cool-gads!

Fantastic! Reading about this on the post
is different than looking at the oldies
section at Borders (for some reason).

I'm sure everyone can remember what they were
doing the moment on hearing of JFK's assassination.I was in English class and it
came over the P.A. Our (male) teacher went
outside and cried.

On Sunday mornings, there was a Christian TV show where a woman would tell a Bible story and do live illustrations with chalk. On Sunday afternoons, Aku hosted Shirley Temple Movietime. Too bad kids nowadays don't know Shirley Temple.

We did Duck and Cover drills in school on the first of the month.

My mom used Adorn hairspray and we kids used VO-5 oil. What was Vitalis? I remember the name.

Rotary dial phones and 6-digit phone numbers!

We put "red medicine" on cuts. No Bactine then.

I don't know anyone who did, but in the
50's we did A-bomb drills. As kids, we were
instructed to crouch under the tables
after moving the tables away from the windows.
I guess the N-bomb put a stop to that drill.

Once See's Candies came to Hawaii in the 70s it stopped. Then when ever friends or relative went to Vegas they would bring back Ethel M's chocolate. We have that now in Hawaii.

Good ones. The was Loretta Young who seemed
Mz. Perfecto. Yeah, my mmadda used Adorn also
and life in the mornings getting ready for school revolved around a big blue transistor radio.

The longest running style in Hawaii for guys
were : Aloha shirt; Khaki pants; black tanker
shoes. Cars were going nuts with giant fins.
