I feel sorry for Brett. Just received a letter from him. He's put on some weight in jail and can't wait to get out someday. He's much smarer than any of you f*cking idiots posting.

I know he made a mistake, but God forgives even if some of you a-holes don't.

Your not a great person when you recklessly take the life of someone...Your an idiot for thinking that... And if you knew him so well why didnt you get him treatment?? Please sister you don't know a damn thing about him.... He left behind a fiance/ unborn baby... He was also careless in that aspect as well..

He didn't make 1 mistake,he made four, and I don't know how that makes him smarter than any of us. I have never killed anyone on purpose or on accident- I feel pretty smart.

I didn't realize he had a baby on the way as well... WOW! Bret's life was really spinning out of control.
Just received another letter and he's confident he'll be out of jail in 2 years. If this is true, he's very lucky as he would only be 37 at the time.

I'm reading all these posts from everyone about how horrible Brett is and how one person specifically said it should have been 30 years instead of 10. Let me tell you something about him. My uncle isn't a bad person, but someone who has made bad decisions. I know everyone is guilty of that. I'm definetly not saying that what he did is ok and I do think that he deserves to spend some time in prison. However, how many of you have or have had friends drive drunk? What makes you better than him...because you didn't get caught or accidently kill someone? Who are you to judge him? You are just lucky it hasn't happened to you yet.
Brett- I love and miss you! I can't wait to see you again!

Brett made mistakes, mistakes that killed someone. He is still human and is paying the price for those mistakes. You have all judged him and I have known him since we were children, our parents mingled amongst each other. He is surely paying the price for his actions and one day he will be able to show us the man he has become and hopefully none of us (or the bloggers here) will EVER have to go through what he and his victims family have gone through. My heart goes out to Brett's Mom & Dad...they are wonderful people who are also in pain for Brett's choices.

What he did was wrong but the drunk kid killed shouldn't have gone with him and was. Hefty sentence for something something not premeditated.

This whole thing is so very unfortunate! My heart goes out to David's family, as well as for Brett and his.
For the most part, you people have hardened and vindictive hearts...you sound like a lynch mob! How many of YOU have lived a pristine life?!
Now, on a softer note....I pray for David's family to find forgiveness in their hearts, for they will never find peace or joy without it. I pray for the lessening of their pain and loss, that God will comfort each of them with His love.
May I remind you people that sin is sin. In God's eyes, there is not one sin that is worse than another. Only one man has walked this earth free of sin, Jesus Christ. Thank you, God, that you gave your only begotten Son that WE may have everlasting life.
Take the log from your own eye, before you try to remove the splinter in your brother's.
We have a just, loving, and forgiving God and we are commanded to forgive others as we are forgiven.
Brett has been fortunate enough to find Jesus in prison...sometimes horrible things have to happen in life to take us through the darkness before we can walk in the light.
Arizona Girl, you have a kind heart...Bless you!
Ex fiance, I'm sorry for your loss, but you were the other party in that relationship and do share responsibility in whatever took place. I have prayed for you in the past and will continue to lift you up in prayer.
David Josua's family, I will continue to pray for you that God will comfort you in your loss; that you may one day again find joy in your lives.
Brett, I love you so very much! I pray that God will continue to deliver you and you will use the gifts that He gave you to rebuild your life. I believe with all of my heart that He spared you that night...He must have GREAT plans for you as you share your testimony with others to win lives for Jesus! I can't wait to see you again!

I am still very hurt by the passing of my cousin David. He was way to young to go. Alcoholism is a disease and I recognize that as I am in recovery. I pray while Brett is in prison he gets treatment for his disease so he doesn't die from it. My family will forever miss David. My Aunt Sandra has not been the same since her son has passed so this terrible but preventable accident will forever leave a very important message. Your drinking effects others around you and can kill not just you but others. There is help out there. 12 step help that saves lives. I am not mad at Brett I wish him a second chance to live life healthy. Ten years may not bring back David but it might give Brett a new and better life. I hope. Thank you all for your comments our family appreciates them.

<quoted text> Disease my ass. That was thought up by some slick lawyer to get people out of being charged. In Hawaii, it's the first thing that drug addicts say, right after they cut someone's throat, or burn someone's house down. I put it right up there in the excuse file with black killers claiming "It's the white man's fault because of slavery." Wrong! YOU are the one that did it and are too cowardly to face it. You're not always drunk out of your mind, there is a point in time where you know you are about to cross over the line and are aware of what will likely happen, you just don't give a hoot about anyone but yourself and are willing to let the lawyer get you out of it. You're just too stingy and self-centered to care about the rest of us. You drunk killers should be taken to a tall tree and a short rope used. It's God's job to deal with your sorry, asses, not society's. He also doesn't need help taking out innocents, DOUCHE-BAG.
Look at who is preaching from the holy bible. Joe Balls the food stamp thief. This stupid fckr think he is going to heaven.

I recently met Brett Ragan. He still drinks plents and I saw no sign of Jesus in his life! He did not drive because he had a blower installed in his shiny BMW. He was still worried the next AM about driving and was thrilled he passed when he blew into the contraption. This guy is bad news and should have been locked up even longer. Obviously he didn't serve the 10 years even after getting in trouble for smuggling drugs into prison while on work release.
