A tradition...not a crime.

This slap on the wrist for betraying a sworn oath, THAT does not make any kine sense. This case high-lights a lot of what is wrong with our Hawai'i...stupid missionary imposed crimes breed corrupt enforcers.

There were many other local cops associated with this who were also convicted. Were their names every published? Everyone who lived around that Waialua cock fight -- which was directly across from the elementary and middle school -- wondered how it could all be done so openly with cars parked for blocks in every direction. Everyone knew about this for years including the elected officials. How about looking into their role?

This story is not over yet. When it goes to the appeals process, we'll see the truth, the real truth. Due process was not served here if YOU knew the WHOLE story. Ironic how the Feds have such a high conviction rate, remember the truth will set you free.

cops in hawaii are crooked.

the entire world knows that.

every time an hpd officers transfers to a mainland department, they figure out real quickly that they were used pawns in a game of corruption and greed.

they tell their stories to their new partners and then they thank god that they are finally doing real police work, not worried about their fellow officers STEALING special duty assignments from them and working as double agents for hawaii organized crime, cock fight security, china town protection and illegal gambling house extortion, like you do there.

the hawaii cops wish they could find me and they have told me so....to dole out a little hawaii cop justice for me knowing and telling the truth. keep your pr24's rammed up each others aho's hawaii pigs, not guys in handcuffs you may not like.

learn to take it, not just deliver it. that way you can keep each other busy on slow nights. just breath deeply and relax your cavity crooked cops.

They got off lightly. I know they were really raking in the cash by "taxing" the winners. There were more cops than this that were/are involved and I hope this isn't the end. Meanwhile, the fights on the westside are doing a bang-up business. The cops don't dare show face on the homestead.

Of course the area politicians knew of it. In fact, the mother of a state representative had a food booth at the chicken fight.

I hope the City and County does not qualify the ex cop for retirement. He should receive no pension as a result of him conducting illegal operations while being an officer of the law.

Everyone knew that the cops were involved with the chicken fights before he was even busted.

Every officer that knew him knew exactly what his role was.

Every politician in the area knew exactly what was going on for years. They remained silent and shame on them. On any given weekend cars would be piled on near the gaming operation and the Law knew about it too. I wouldn't be surprised if the police chief at the time did not know. He was probably knowledgeable of what was happening but didn't do a thing.

Every vice officer on the island had to know what was happening , too. Should give Brunn a deal to squeal on whoever else was involved.

This is only the tip of the iceberg. there are many more illegal operations going on , still. Why don't they bust those operations? Are they afraid? or are there law enforcement officials involved? Go to the homestead and check it out.

Oh my goodness! Are you serious? I wonder how much of a kickback the state representative was getting? There was a similar situation in Nanakuli and the cops knew about the illegal activities there too. Some of them would drive by but wouldn't shut down the game. They probably just moved the Waialua game somewhere else. So Brunn will do time big deal? Do you know how many other cops are out there willing to take his place?

This is all he got busted for? Lucky bugga, you just know that over a 17 year career that he's made a lot of extra kala on the side, he just got popped for this one illegal activity. He did the crime, now he gets to do the time. I'm sure he'll be pretty popular in prison.

I was at a chicken fight and the supposedly undercover cop said that he was only interested in finding guns, not the rest of it. Oh, and the thirty thousand he took from a derby winner.

Unfortunately the few "dirty" law enforcement officers at HPD and elsewhere ruin it for the good LAW ABIDING law enforcement officers.

Legalize gambling and floating casinos and cruise ships, MJ, cock fighting, dog fighting and racing, horse and car racing, fist fighting, smoking dens, steroids in sports, bunny ranches, and let the taxes roll in for schools, roads, electricity, water, new cops and jails on Kahoolawe's ammo dumps, etc. Didn't Nevada do very well before? Everybody has sins so legalize the sins, create lots of jobs that would be otherwise unlegal and reap the taxes. Just keep the minors and crooks out.

Oh, so naive. The cops are inherently corrupt. They do their most effort to hide this fact.

These two caught were just two small fishes swimming in a big pond. Just legalize gambling and all the budget shortfalls are solved.

Naive? No.

There are some who are not corrupt. I know a few law enforcement officers who are not dirty cops. It is due to the dirty ones who make it more difficult for those who ARE

1. Loyal and faithful to their wife
2. Loyal to enforcing the law and
3. Loyal to serving the public

They ARE out there.
