I'm hearing a lot about slum lords, and I'm scared about renting.
Does anyone know a good landlord that is not one?

I'm a poor college student and don't make much money doing retail, and I certainly don't want to be taken advantage of.
My friend tells me to be very careful, they are so corrupt.

To rent property here, you are supposed to be licensed, pay taxes, and obey the rental laws.
There is no need to be afraid. The complaints you read about are from whiners that destroyed the landlord's property and lost their security deposit, and were most likely sued to boot. The rest will be from shady people that tried to skirt the law, got screwed over, and now want someone to make it all better in their favor.

I rent out property and am Sure a license is needed to be a landlord. LOL, Ask other people, because my stalkers on this forum are fixing to tell you I'm lying about it. Easiest would be to just google up Hawaii rental laws and read it for yourself.

Tiffany, be careful. Those slum lord people that you posted are pure evil.

Where there is smoke, there is fire. Don't rent from anyone until you do your research. Did you read what they did to there renters? they kicked out everyone and stole all their belongings.

The poor little pets were left behind, because they were forced out with an aggressive takeover. Those slum lords are pure scum!

Protect yourself and good luck.

If you're on time he wouldn't crap on you. You screw up and blame the landlord? He gotta pay his bills too.

From your post, it looks as though you're heading for trouble because you're saying how poor you are, make no money, etc. Maybe you should just stay way you are and make the best of it. What good is college going to do you if you start out owing tons of money to creditors and lawsuit settlements? Maybe college isn't for you, and you just need a job.
If you aren't ready to meet adult commitments then you will just end up with a bad credit report and a civil court record as a deadbeat, at a young age. When you want to buy a home of your own, that's gonna come back and hurt you. Landlords aren't your parents, they are business people just like any other business people, and if you mess with them they will fight back and you WILL lose.

Great post! that's right, only the strong will survive.
With shows about pawn shops and storage locker auctions, what's mine is mine, and what's theirs is mine.
When they rent from me and they don't pay me, I will have their carcass kicked out on the beach real fast.
I don't care if they have little kids or pets, I'm not running a charity.
They will get their 20 minute eviction, and my team will sell all of their valuables. Those deadbeats deserve it.
I'm making more money selling merchandise now that I find left behind, than I did trying to collect rent from all of these bums.
After paying property taxes, doing renovations and all the fix up headaches, who's gonna take care of me?
Anybody that wants to rent from me better pay up or shut up, because I'll get it from them anyway when the eviction comes. lol, kudos buddy, these people need to get a realty check. Landlords are on top of the world, these fools haven't got a chance.

Tiffany, you better live at home until you're 45.
If you only make minimum wage, you can't afford rent anyway, and you have no business wasting our time.
My advice, wait until you're a little older when you can at least buy some furnishings that I'm sure will be left behind after you rent.
Don't expect your security deposit back though, that will be spent for gas after we truck all your junk out to be sold. lol

You deadbeats are all the same, backing each other up.
When you eat out, you need to leave a tip,. It's the same when you rent. Don't be so selfish.
We don't work for free after all. LOSER!!! HA HA HA LOL!!!! I'll eat their pets for dinner and sell all their junk on ebay.

I google it and you don't need a license other than if you represent a owner and that person is called a REAL ESTATE AGENT and YES he has a licence. Duhhhhhh of course. You do need a gross income number to pay taxes I know that but if you live here and want to rent out you own legal rental then WHAT LISCENCE do you need? Come on BALLS stop playing games you are the one that said you need to be LICENSED. You are a bs LIAR making up stuff....why posts something that is not true???

The poster was asking about a story on Lani properties, and they are not a private home. I'm sure they need a license to operate. If you are living in another state and rent your property you need to use a LICENSED real edtate agent that is located in Hawaii. If you rent out your own home, you still need the formal tax number, but that's not what the poster asked about. I rent out property in Hawaii, why don't you tell me how to do business in Hawaii, Renter?

BTW, you still need a real estate license unless you rent out only one place.

Just how the hell are you a LANDLORD on this thread and the next one you are a broke azz Waianae haole with 8 kids and a 450lb wife.I rememember you writing you can only afford HAMBURGER not STEAKS like the scamming locals on food stamps. You stated that the only income you get is a disability check NOW you are a SLUMLORD with rentals. Something is wrong with you BALLS and it looks like your are a PATHELOGICAL LIAR again. Your problem is you chronically posts so many BOGUS comments you forget what you wrote yesterday.

Harry, I didn't lie, I just wasn't detailed enough for your pea-brain to grasp. Rent anything larger than your closet, you need a license in this state. I told the origimal poster to check the laws for themselves to be sure, but you aren't here to offer advice, you just came here to attack me, as usual. I also NEVER said I live on disability, I said I receive a small check for wounds received while in the service. None of this is your business anyways, I'll be careful in the future, ya fukkin dink.
