Remembering Hawaii in the 70’s and 80’s

Long floor length everyday dresses, Afro perms, carved leather watchbands and handbags, India Imports store, picture tapestries, hippie type wall posters, venus statue hanging with the oil based drip design, fancy glass hanging ceiling lamps with chains, hanging plants craze, brown oiled east Indian slippers, bell bottom pants, neighborhood night clubs with dancing to live bands, Waikiki Beef & Grog, musk oil, melmac dinnerware sets, fancy coffee mugs, wooden and leather top shoes. Wishing everyone a goodnight's dreams of the "sweet memories" of before!

Yoko's in Kapahulu with live dancing, dancing at the Oasis, Victoria Inn in Kaimuki with the handsome bus boy, the ghost in the Waialae drive inn rest room, Waikiki Zoo with no entrance fee, the working fountain in Thomas Square, mango and plumeria trees in most yards, printed men's long sleeve shirts, so many men had moustaches, can't remember Hawaii having humid weather like now days!

I am bummed... I just found out about Mackey Feary. You know I haven't been back to Hawaii for more than twenty years, so I didn't know.

Even many fans who remember the tragic events to this day felt it wasn't right. Kalapana was the
voice of the 70's along with C&K. They broke ground
and were outstandingly creative and original.

well I was not alive in the 1970's or 1980's but a cute boy at Safeway Kapahulu winked at me. he reminds me of Esteban Martin Caro, the lead singer for the Left banke. What a dream he was. Remember the song "Just Walk Away Renee" and "Pretty Ballerina?"

What an idea! I'll never post these (too personal), but I have photos of my dad on
a knuckle head Harley Davidson. Also,
mom & dad camping out at Allen Davis(?)..
the era where a family could camp, pitch a tent and never worried about bothersome/
dangerous people on the beaches of Hawaii.

They're other forums that touch on this very subject and you can post pictures as well. The Hawaiithreads is a good example.
