Can they do the same thing in our neighborhood? Every night (and sometimes during the day), criminals are setting off bombs in our neighborhood. I talked with a beat cop, and he said there is nothing they can do about it. By the time they get to the scene of the crime, the criminals have left or gone inside a house, and family, friends and neighbors refuse to say who set off the bombs. Maybe we should ban explosives in our town.-

But what about the children who want to spend New Years Eve flying their kites under the airport flight path?

I agree. a total ban on fireworks is the answer. That would be easy to enforce. The police would love it. The firemen would love it. The hospitals would love it. Pets and other animals would love it. It is in the public's bests interest. We should also make it illegal to buy, sell, possess, explode bombs and other explosives that are probably not included in the definition of "fireworks." What we're hearing now are BOMBS! And they are being flown to the outer islands on commercial airplanes. Dumb!

I live in Enchanted Lakes, and every night of the year someone sets off a couple of aerials that are loud and booming. Scares my family and pets to death nearly. About the same time every night. Now they are setting off more of them as the New Year approaches. I've called HPD, but they do nothing (We have to witness it). Why? because the offender is a cop! That's right. I have told HPD who is setting them off and exactly where he lives. They are protecting one of their own, and he obviously has a hoard of illegal fireworks year 'round (Probably got them in a bust). Where can one go for true justice?

Are you being a bad little boy and using the teacher's computer during your recess? How old are you? 9 or 10? You go to Waianae Elementery right? Please join the rest of your class now, I don't want the state to waste my tax dollars and send out an Amber alert for a missing child. My 10 year old nephew can write better than you and English is his second language. Imagine how bad our schoolkids will be if these Furlough Fridays keep going on. Our kids will fall further behind, scary thought.

Yes. The One leaves in his $1 million dollar chariot ride back to D.C. need fo keep the 'security' tight round the airoport. I would guess. Otherwise, why bother shutting Lagoon Drive? Nevah done it b-4 cept back at 9-11.

If it is a cop, call IA, or the police commision to complain. Or, are you just making false accusations out of frustration that the cops that respond to your calls are not able to do anything???

With security demands and limited manpower from furloughs the State closes Lagoon Drive. Sheriffs are responsible for the Airport, surrounding properties and roads.
They used to be able to pawn off the responsibility.

The closing of Lagoon Drive every new years and fourth of July has been in place since 9-11 except July 4 2009 when the State decided not to have a manned Checkpoint and open it to the public which resulted in a cluster along the roadway and a bunch of Airport prohibited activities in the area. Nothing to do with limited manpower due to furloughs and more to do with Administrative Security Decisions and protocols by higher ups.
