This is why he continues to be around. He knows this guy go no chance so he'll try everything(legally possible) to get him no jail time, its part of the job. It's what Acasia tells his lawyer and this is what we got.

Waianae at Heart is the kind of Westside guys I remember as I too have family from the area and I never once felt threatened when visiting them growing up, unless you acted like a knucklehead. There has always been enormous pride about being from the Westside because it bred toughness. But beating up elderly good guys is not what being from Waianae is about. Lock this guy up till he is too old to ever hurt people again.

Hopefully our government could contract with foreign countries to house our incorrigibles in some of their special prisons. We'll pay them good money to house Pada in a Mexican, Chinese, or Phillipine jail!!! This way they'll be able to dine on real ethnic foods.

In America, even the worst of the worst are entitled to competent counsel to help them protect their rights and tell their side of the story. By guaranteeing it to them, we guarantee it to ourselves. Does that bother you?

I hate when other races uses a Hawaiian name as their first name. This guy should be a Luis Mendes Acasia that way it reflects his culture.

"Kelii Acasia had to protect his girlfriend and himself from a drunk who had just hit his pregnant girlfriend," he said."

priceless. what did Mr. Nakoa do? slapped her? punched her in the stomach? what? "hit" is a very broad term to use. regardless ... even IF Mr. Nakoa "hit" her ... does that mean the boyfriend can pummel and kick him even when he was down on the ground? he was an older gentleman ... did acasia REALLY feel threatened by him? enough to give him a beatdown that killed him?

and acasia's little "victory" stunt isn't in keeping with a "self defense" defense. they're grasping at straws. it's just sad that they have to put Mr. Nakoa's family through the heartache of publicly portraying him as a drunk who started a fight. pathetic.

Once again the Star Bulleting only tells half the story. Absent is any mention of this witness's inconsistent testimony. The great journalism we've come to expect from Hawaii's most fascist newspaper!

BukTooFgator, dont be a coward and beat around the bush, because it is obvious as to what you are trying to imply. Dont lump "Hawaiians" or "Polynesians" in with these criminals. Dont blame our "culture and heritage," on individual criminal behavior, because it is not cultural, it is not bred into us. Is "serial killing" or the molestation of little boys bred into you, or those like you? I hope not.
If you dont like it here, go home to the mainland, and we can be rid of people like you, just as we'll be rid of people like these two idiots.
Unfortunately, they'll prbably get off with time served and be among us until they kill again. The courts here seem to give killers one or two gimmes here before they remove them from society. Even then, they get out in a few years (witness the guy yesterday, convicted of killing for the second time).

blood alcohol content has little to do with this incident. bac is a legal measure indicating impairment for driving only.

Ned was the nicest man and full of peace. auwe on keith for dragging Ned's legacy through the mud created by his client acasia's thug actions.

i pray Ned still watches over us all and leads us to peace.

I bet they rest well knowing that they protected all of our rights. How do you sleep at night trying to deny people of due process?

What a terrible article! Who writes this junk? Were all the participants drunk or just the bangers? Who attacked the girlfriend and was she drunk? What happened to the Marine? I have more questions after reading this article than I had when I saw the headline. More great reporting-jeez!

P.S. Hang um! Twice!
