Hey I know, how about LOWERING expenditures rather than RAISE taxes...at some point they are going to run out of other people's money to spend then what...sell one of the islands?

Lets face the facts, the hotels are going to operate to a profit and if the means the hotel employees and vendors will absorb the effects with lower wages. If the hotels can attract tourists secondary, so be it, but first and center is bottom line and that wages and vendor costs. Nothing is free and decisions have cost's.

does it occur to anyone, that maybe it isn't the service providers as much as it is the consumers of the public services?

special ed is like half the DOE money --- why so many need special ed?

The Hawai'ian Monarchy sold Lanai. The money was wasted in the ordinary government way. Maybe with a little redecoration we could "re-purpose" the "big square building" for more lucrative pursuits. The current occupants don't seem to be doing anything beneficial.
