i don't understand why some posters find it necessary to bring ceratin groups or races into every social problem mentioned here. crime, illnees, poverty transcends every group.
i can consider a government only as successful as the method of how they deal with the people who need the most help. instead of judging the poor and the sick, i judge the leadership of those we have elected to do their jobs.

on a lighter note - "if you are on welfare" visit the farmers' market at the Makaha Resort every 1st and 3rd Saturdays from 730-11 am. They accept EBT and you can shop for fresh vegetables and other gourmet foods for you and your family. Not to mention - they don't discriminate - you can be any age, race, or color!

halemalu...is right. Hawaiians are always blamed for being lazy, dirty and spoiled. But all races have had their problems. And under Lingle/Bush, Hawaii is in major decline. Many of you will be on the beaches soon yourselves.

Something is seriously wrong when a woman with half a dozen kids and Hawaiian bracelets up the ying yang steps out of her monster SUV with 20+ inch rims and strolls into the bank to cash her welfare check. Maybe the "Ainokea" decal on the back window of her SUV alludes to her kids. As long as she pump out more, she get more money from welfare.
