Sooo, the big question for Rep. Oshiro, where were you when not attending the committee meetings?

Guess this one wasn't at the top of his wish list. Get this Old Boy out of politics!!!

Oshiro, you are a fricken disgrace of a human being. Start acting like a elected official representing the people who gave you your office. Use some common sense once in your life you may be surprised on the overall outcome.

Please people, do not vote for idiots like this again.

This law was a bad idea, and Marcus Oshiro deserves credit for recognizing that, and having the courage to oppose a popular but seriously flawed piece of legislation. He's also one of our brightest and hardest-working legislators.

Pine doesn't know a darned thing about the justice system. She only knows how to pander to the lowest common denominator of public opinion.
finally. the voice of reason. yes, there already are procedures in place to have juvie court jurisdiction waived. in the case of Karen Ertell, jurisdiction has also been waived and that scum bartley is being tried as an adult.

more laws only make for more cumbersome government. rep. pine should learn that. all this whining about how rep. oshiro shouldn't be voted back in ... i wonder about you ewa people who keep voting pine in.

Murcus has contempt for the people. He is an outrage. The so-called "boy" will kill again. That si what eh does. That is what gives him purpose.

I am a proponent of "Karens Law" and a lot of people are laying into Oshiro, but his questions were legitimate ones. It's a sad thing that occurred, but this bill has many loops that would make it harder and further drag out the process. Language on bill should be revised and brought back.

But I'm deeply disappointed that it took this terrible event to happen so our Representative from Ewa Beach could work hard on behalf of it's people.

We also got to remember Oshiro is a former Prosecutor, Pine isn't. He knows what he's talking about.

Marcus Oshiro aside, how are we at the point that the whim of one person overrules the desire of the many? Regardless of the merits or demerits of this particular bill, the power that is invested in this single individual is dictatorial. Question is, who is doing the dictating?

I didn't vote for her. We live in a community dominated by our Filipino brothers and sisters and they're gonna vote for the person exploiting Marcos as a middle name.

If Marcus Oshiro had any misgivings about this bill based on his own knowledge and experience why didn't he go to any of the meetings to express them. Does he have some kind of ulterior motive to kill this bill that he doesn't want anyone to know about? My tax money pays for his knowledge and experience in creating laws for our community not to be arrogant and dismissive of anyone who doesn't agree with his point of view.

Rep. Pine is a disgrace by blaming it on Marcus Oshiro. Oshiro is right - he did not need to be there to vote on the measure; only a majority of the chairs needed to be.

For those who question where he was, he probably was dealing with one of the many other bills that he was a chair or co-chair in conference. Have any of you who are blaming him ever experienced conference? I highly doubt that.

I support Karen's Law and there were flaws with the bill. Good for Oshiro for pointing it out.

Rep. Pine is purely political grandstanding IMHO.

Oshiro is an obstructionist! It seems that every time you see him on TV he is talking against something that would benefit Hawaii. I hope that all the people in his district are not like him but they seem to don't care or vote for him because his is part of the old boy network.

If Rep. Oshiro is so adamant that his point of view is correct why didn't he show up to express his thoughts. If Rep. Pine was a democrat would he have been so dismissive of this bill.

As Nobody points out, he could have expressed his problem with the bill ahead of time. So what if he was in conference? Isn't he being paid 36% more this year to handle his work? Has he no paid staff to draft a statement regarding his misgivings? He has no problem doing this now, at the end. Why not earlier when changes could be made?

By his actions, it seems like his intent was to unilaterally kill the bill.

Looking at the judgements of people's posts, it's good to see that Marcus and his staff showed up to work...even if it's just to click on the "nuts", "clueless" and "spam" buttons.
If you're not going to show up for your part time job, don't expect a raise.

He is arrgant and unresponsive to the needs of the state. But that is true of much of the legislature.

I don't think they are clicking those in support of Oshiro. alice automatically gets those anyway so you can't say that that was from Oshiro or his staff.

Representative Pine always seems to find an excuse or blame others for things. Like Ewa Beach resident pointed out this is the first time I have seen her author or co-author a bill in the 4-5 years she has been in office.
Everyone needs to realize in the heat of the moment and emotion the bill seemed great, but when you get down to the nitty gritty it wasn't all that great.
Come on Ewa Beach wake up and Get rid of PINE!!!
This is a stunt by Rep. Pine to create major drama to a popular bill so she can pretend that she has been working hard for the people of Ewa Beach. See through the smoke Ewa Beach!!!
