This is a tragic situation all around - Mr Davis is a victim, as well, but he has to take responsibility for what he did - by taking the marijuana laced with LSD, he made the wrong choice, one that will change his life forever. Lock up the marijuana dealer - he should be located and punished as well...
I agree the dealers should be locked up too, but where on earth do you get the idea that Davis is "victim"?? Give me a break!! He CHOSE to smoke the dope. He's the one who cut the two VICTIMS up so badly that they almost died-- and one will suffer from this every day the rest of his life (did you read the part about facial disfigurement?). Davis may be an irresponsible idiot, but he sure isn't a victim. Lock the sucka up for about 50 years.

There is a myth that low quality marijuana may be dipped in LSD to increase its potency or make the user hallucinate upon smoking. However, LSD rapidly degrades in the presence of moisture or heat. LSD cannot be smoked; it will be destroyed at a temperature of 80C, well below the minimum 180C required to release the THC in marijuana.

So um... no.

Everybody needs to lighten up on Davis because his family and friends can vouch that he's not really like this. In reality he is a really really good person. He's an aspiring rap artist for goodness sake. Besides, someone laced his joint with LSD so it's not his fault. Also, he had such a difficult upbringing here in Hawaii. Everyone needs a second chance. Those were REAL tears being shed in the courtroom by Davis, his family, and his support team. I know that poor Ben is really really sorry and that this will never happen again. All of this is just a misunderstanding.

Not to worry citizens of Oahu! Knowing our judicial system and its propensity to "slap the wrist," this person will be back on the streets before the paperwork can be filed away. And if perchance our judicial system functions as it supposed to, then our illustrous Parolling Authority will probably set his minimum term at 1 year.
If any of the victims were my family I would not want him in prison, can't get to him there. I would however be scattering Benjamin's ashes somewhere on the island.

Laced his marijuana with LSD????? Come on who is this guy fooling. What is this the 60's? Why is his family crying like he is a victim? Wake-up he has been doing drugs and I doubt it was once unknowingly. Look at the fact that he abruptly quit his job at Safety Systems for no reason. Sounds like drugs. People do drugs all the time without anyone knowing because they do it in private. I don't feel sorry for his family. I feel sorry for the victims that will have permanent reminders of this. Even if it was the drugs that did it - it was his free choice to do them.

There's no positives about this entire situation. Apparently, the kid got caught up in something that led to him making terrible, horrible decisions. He has a lot of supporters, otherwise.

I don't care if it was drugs or what. This guy deserves to be put away for life. As for his family, face the facts ... he was up to no good . It was your fault for bring up this piece of trash that goes about causing harm to innocent people.

Davis is a "victim" too? WTF! I didn't hear about anybody cutting his okole up. We should bring back the death penalty.

I hope he gets put away for a long time. but that is only wishful thinking. He will enjoy it since he is young and will be learning a lot from the other inmates. He may even get hurt accidentally while in custody. Would n't that be nice to hear.

"Always think BEFORE you do ANYTHING." said my Momma. She may have received only as much as a 6th grade education (forced to quit school in the 1930's to take care of her younger siblings) but she still has a whole lotta Common Sense. Plain, simple, uncluttered.
