Isn't it interesting to note that the Planning Departments on most of our Islands--especially Kauai--see these numbers/statistics just the opposite..? Gheee, if only they could read... We don't fault them, because they were elected by popular vote..; thus, no quality--just politics, as usual...

I don't see how the hotel statistic for one period (which period is not indicated) applies to the two periods indicated for time shares. The presentation is confusing. If time share represents only 10 percent of the total I'm quite not sure I understand how this significantly bears upon the visitor industry in general.

Totally agree Lolo. After i pray in front of my guru statue i seek out people who bought timeshares in the most beautiful places in the world and then i point and laugh at them.
It's much better to buy property in our hood so we can chase around the low lives for rent etc...

Interesting comments in here.

They are great if you use them and choose well. They work IF you know what you are doing. 99% of the public doesn't know how to do it right. If not, it is a waste of money.

What a resentful byotch you are. You generally hate people. Especially the ones who are happy and successful.

Timeshare fraud has been around since the timeshare idea was created, but they increase during poor economy. When times are difficult, timeshare owners are stuck with properties they canĀ“t travel to or even afford. Desperate to recoup some money to pay for bills, they can easily become victims to scams artists pretending to be their timeshare salvation who will take upfront fees -as much as five number figures in some cases- but fail to fulfill their promise:

This article is a joke. Who in their right mind would buy timeshares in MEXICO??! That is exactly what you don't want to do.

If you believe that this represents the way to do business in real estate timeshares there is no help for you. This sounds like a hit piece written by the scam artists to take your money.

Use you common sense people. TS are not for people who may not have their maintenance fees and who do not travel. Period. Doing it right is a piece of cake. Doing it wrong is what most people do.

The hardest part is telling people who THINK they know how the industry works. They will fight and scream all the way to hell and back. Just watch the reaction to this post.

No. Exactly the opposite as Mexico.

BUT, you have to be a local to know how to do it right. Avoid the hot-dog timeshare companies that solicit you at Waikiki. Those are high-priced power-houses that Will wine you and dine you with great videos and lots of pressure at closing. OK for some, not for me.

I won't say more here.
