You should have had the real thing under your desk and you could be an advisor for a major political campaign.

Keep in mind that there are MANY in government (and other work places) who use their computers for personal emails (good and bad, still not supposed to do it).

Generally speaking, most businesses (especially government) have specific rules regarding use of company computer equipment/internet resources and you typically have to sign a special form stating that you will not abuse (trading stocks, going on ebay, sending personal emails, sending vulgar/sexual emails, visiting porn sites, etc., etc., etc.) them and if you do you can be immediately terminated, etc.

This guy was clinging like an opihi to that government paycheck. Sort of like the Bishop Estate trustees. Who were just about as useful a bunch of parasites. Does the HTA actually DO anything besides provide a nicely paid sinecure for political hacks? I surmise that a cost-benefit analysis of that expensive self-governing "Authority" would show that it could be replaced by an outsourced contract to an ad agency. Or , maybe the tourism industry could do their own advertising. Novel idea , that.

So how many tax dollars are going to the Horndog as severance? You know that a deal got cut with the swingin' Johnson so the HTA could get rid of Sexy Rexy without actually having to fire him. How much?

He did the right thing to apologize and resign.

Now, it's Lingle's turn. She has been travelling and partying around the world as our local economy has sunken to new lows. She hasn't been paying any attention to the visitor industry, the State's deficit or anything for more than a year.

Aiona should also go. He's certain not independent or brave enough to standup for the people and set Lingle straight. He's nothing but a puppet.

Johnson has been a good distraction for Lingle and Aiona. But now that he's gone, we're looking right at the two of you and we aren't seeing any action on anything that matters to the people.

"In your hearts in some level of your consciousness you guys all know that he is not a racist or a sexist and that this is nothing more than a petty political witch hunt,"

Johnson was a Cayetano appointee now Lingle wants to put in her Jewish political counterpart Marsha Wiener. Johnson looses to politics and the Jews.

I truly believe Alphonso Braggs, Daphne & Andre Wooten with the NAACP had an axe to grind because Johnson is white, who are the real racists if you compare the two? Johnson vs the Wootens.

Supporters of Johnson came from multi races, black, Hispanic, oriental, whites, if that wasn't enough to prove he is not racial then it proves his detractors were.

Primarily it was politically motivated and the racists jumped on the band wagon and shouted "Racist!" to support their own racial discrimination.

Hey Rex, I hear Dog, Beth, Leland and the rest of the gang are looking for help.

I know what you're saying Rex: "But I have this racist thing in my background". Not a problem Rexie my boy. At this company that will actually work to your benefit.

Johnson resignation was the right thing to do. He made a drastic mistake and he realizes that. People in high positions should realize the consequences of their mistakes and must take responsibility.

With all the problems in this world now days why get hung up on s-e-x when s-e-x is the key motivating factor in every single thing we buy or sell?

Subliminal advertising with s-e-x is in everything from Vodka to Automobiles. From lipstick to cell telephones. I am pretty sure in the tourist ads they use s-e-x as in hula girls to fooling around on a beautiful tropical hotel swimming pool to sell.

Man is a man. Without man there will be no babies in this world. Yet just as s-e-x sells it also can get your fired.
I am not on the tourism chiefs side because he should have known better yet the other people in that office are just as much or more the blame for using s-e-x as a tool to their advantage. Most countries use religion to control the people, but in America it's s-e-x.

That is just the way it is.

we need to start scrutinizing the REAL culprits in the upper crust shirt and tie wearing crowd up there and combat greed which feeds off the poor masses. greed, from CEOs to land-grabbing investors to greedy landlords which cause businesses to go bankrupt, to corporation heads who just gave themselves and their high makamaka buddies a few billion bucks. it seems nobody finds it in the law to stop them. this is where the real maggots of society are. but they are the untouchables, with their mansions and security guards.

Perhaps that's the way you percieve it. I look at it as a misuse of governemnt property which was ultimately embarassing to the State. As a supervisor, Johnson ought to know better.

Here is a fine example why in a professional situation, personal culture needs to be in constant check.

I do not personally know Mr. Johnson; he appears to have done an outstanding job for Hawaii's primary industry. On that note, I express my gratitude to him for helping to keep this stat's economic engine running.

As we are not all perfect, I am supportive to Forgive a person for errs in their judgement (similary from politicians Sens. Donna Kim, Colleen Hanabusa and Clarence K. Nishihara and Rep. Jerry L. Chang) particularly in a first instance of poor work ethics.

Guive me a break! You are in a fantasy land....he was the one that laughed about the racist and sexist emails and forwarded them on to his croonies and they all had a great laugh. If he did not condone these types of emails, why did he forward them? Make all the excuses you want. As head of this agency he has to conform to certain standards, which he did not do. Why is it racists to hold him accountable? And why are Gov Lingle, Girl Fest and the Hispanic and NAACP Groups racists for wanting him to be outsted? HE is the guilty party..not them

His mistake was having Good Ol' Ben "Thumbs Up Hawaii" Cayetano vouch for him. He was the governor that thought 14 was a good age of consent for sexual activity here. He was overridden by the entire legislature to raise the age. I don't think that's someone you'd want vouching for your character. Maybe Ben was trying to get Rex to blow our dollars on another great Thums Up campaign. After all, it did so great last time we were in a recession (note the sarcasm). I suppose the way Rex will now support tourism in Hawaii will be by putting his tail between his legs and leaving to take some other high paying job on the mainland.

Ok, yes it's sad, it's not pretty for the state and it's put our number one economic industry/driver in jeopardy. But let's put the blame on the length of this process on the real culprit..Sen. Donna Kim! Everyone knows, but is somehow scared to say it, KIM has run HTA for year's. KIM's bullying tactics has sent the industry down the tubes. Where is the outrage? Where is the investigation from the press of KIM's calls and emails to HTA? Everyone talks about it, but no one prints the facts. Retribution? Gosh, thought that ended years ago. Remember, KIM defended the guy, asked the board to get/take a new vote, change meeting dates, etc. Why are people afraid to name names? Say it out loud now...Sen. Donna Kim. There is a group that intimately knows the facts and will speak up. Hello, we live in a democracy! Thanks for allowing us to respond.

The HTA Board should be investigated to determine if they knew of Mr. Johnson's activities. Did any of the Board members receive racist and sexist emails from Mr. Johnson. What a deal, Johnson was making $ 240,000 per year, not quite as much as June Jones ,however both of them behaved a " little left of center" off off the tax payers back. These state employees should not be getting paid these high salaries. Johnson was the boy of the past two Democratic Governors and I suppose that the Legislature allows for these state employees to get paid these high salaries.
